Just watched it. Good film. I see why JK got the award.

My only problem was how the film ended. It just ended with a drum routine. I wanted one more conversation between the two.

Pretty much. And especially towards the end it feels like there's a pivotal scene missing:

because I'd really like to know how his father felt about Andrew still participating in Fletcher's band after what he put his son through. Instead he's in the audience like "whatever" even though it should be a big deal that he came around to letting his son perform and supporting him.

And given the movie's length (I just checked, 107 minutes), there's no reason they couldn't have added like a good 10-15 minutes to develop all those relationships a bit more either.
He knew how deep his sons passion went for his art and as an artist everything fletcher put him through wasnt a big deal because he had the drive to be perfect.

I hate a$$holes like that. Good flick though
Sheeit, those are some the best teachers a motivated artist can have.

But really all you need is a teacher who can reinforce the repetition of fundamentals necessary to master your craft.

Which sucks :aicmon:
