This. Visited. Booming economically, some beautiful women, and some safe neighborhoods.

Shout out to everyone who took the leap back to an African country. There's no such thing as Heaven on Earth, so I know it wasn't always easy. But y'all did it! :salute:

Ghana is actually pretty safe overall in general terms. People who lived there and had lived in other parts of Africa, surprisingly even the White folks, talked approvingly about the security compared to places like Lagos, Jo'Burg, or Luanda. I was with a local that would stop at street markets in his Benz and we got out, shopped, no one bothered us. People should remember too that Ghana, like Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, and Botswana, has never had a major civil war, strife etc. Military coups and shyt but no mass chaos.

But how do you start manufacturing like build factory as just a single person with limited capital

Access to capital is an issue like anywhere but remember money goes a lot farther over there. You can rent an industrial or warehouse space, you don't have to build from scratch. As a Westerner, you can get access to capital from Western banks much easier than locals and import cheap equipment from Asia. The average salary for working class in Accra when I was there was about $1-2k per year though it is higher in places like Accra probably and you pay more for skilled labor.

Seriously, the business license BS, getting things imported without greasing palms, and transportation/electrical costs (poor infrastructure) are probably bigger issues.

I work in IT security and I am thinking of where I can move. Part of a LinkedIn African CyberSec team, so I think I will ask them.

I am born and raised in London, and it is my home, but I just would love to see people like me day-in, day-out

You have a lot of options with that background but would your fiance have an opinion? I am guessing somewhere like Cape Town, Windhoek, or Nairobi so she doesn't feel isolated?

Yep. As a Nigerian, I really appreciate the peacefulness of Accra compared to Lagos. The stability is particularly good for first time visitors to the African continent.

Agree with the bolded. If anything, capital isn't an issue in this day and age. There's so much dry powder looking for the right deal in PE circles and from institutional investors. The bigger issue would be on ground operations.

True. She's pretty flexible and open to moving wherever, though. She's lived in Japan and US and was raised her, so I'm sure she will adapt. One of her non-black close friends lives in Kenya or Ethiopia and she liked it there when she visited. Living there longer term is another issue though.

I may start doing some cursory looks at employment, status in Nigeria and Ghana too, I mean there are massive western companies and local governments that could be an option.

Thanks for this thread, it really has me thinking

I would love to move to Angola. Yes, very very poor country but full of lovely people and the land of my ancestors :wow:

Also, they need to sort out that rampant corruption :francis:

Im learning portugese slowly with the intent of going to angola because of that, my great grandmother was a kongo woman, and i got more portugese than spanish in me.

For me it would be either Marrakesh, Lagos, or Luanda.

Cool chick selling apartments in accra

I bet I can guess why the comments were turned off. :lolbron:

$230,000 (a little over £180,000) for all of that though!! :wow: What you get for your money is INSANE! :mindblown: You're pretty much getting mansions. Not to mention you get a whole lot of land and stunning views in some cases.

You can't even get a spacious two bedroom flat in a rough part of London for that price!

No wonder they're trying to scare us away from Africa while everyone is travelling there in droves.
