Newest addition. Electric bike. Since I've been riding to work all month long and saved plenty of money doing it, I figured this would be a nice addition. There was one hill, it snapped my derailleur hanger. I got that fixed and have dominated that hill ever since. The only thing having a throttle and a pedal assist is for is really keeping the level easy going up the hills until I get to the trail.

The hills are what make you strong, fast, burns calories so I like them, but there's 2 routes I can take to work. One is 25 miles. The other is 17ish. I usually take the long route 2 days a week going and 3 days a week coming home. I'll take it every day now that I can basically skim through the hilly part that just gets me to the trail then I can focus on my cadence and heart rate, work out of the saddle etc.

The bike ain't much. About 850 on Amazon. I put my own pedals on it and use the seat I use everyday. I do want new tires on it. The gears are good so even if I don't want to use the assist or throttle for the hills when I turn it off I can still get a great ride, 21 speeds.

I guess we will see how it holds up a month or 2 from now after I get a couple hundred miles on it. First 17 mi ride is tonight. And 25 in the morning.

I was kind of against it. My coworker just bought one but he has to wait a month or so for it to come in. And one of my co-workers husbands has one. He is actually in shape and works out. So it's not an excuse like a low level moped or non drivers license requiring motorbike.

I'm just dipping my toes in. I don't plan on buying another or or a more expensive one. I can ride to the trail and the trail takes me all the way to work. With as much as I ride, I can use the assist to skim or skip through some of the hilly parts and just enjoy the other 95% of the ride.

Worst case scenario, I end up not liking it, I can always sell locally and break even. Although I've already saved money on gas, and not buying shyt on impulse cause I'm already at the store or gas station. If I put 1000 miles on it and sell it for 700 then Ive probably gotten double out of it.

I wasn't clowning your purchase lol. From everything they've been saying about them, they are great at what they're built to do. I got one co-worker that was telling me recently about all the new fishing spot's he's been able to get to now with his bike.

I didn't think you were clowning.

The reason I was and am on the fence about them is because unlike how I'm using (going to use it) as a commuter, I'm using the assist to just assist me with a couple of hills and I'll do the rest.

My boy who is a Lil over 300lbs is basically going to use it as a moped or non licensed motorbike.
I hate that. That's one reason I made sure this bike had a variety of gears so when I'm not tired or too exhausted I can hit the hills with no assist and if they are unbearable then I'll simply use the assist to get me through. I think that's what it's designed for but others just use it without pedaling to get them from point a to b.

What you mean convert?

I ended up buying an electric bike.

I still use my hybrid and road bike though.

Wasn’t sure if that was a whole new purchase, or you if purchased the motorized kit for an existing bike.

I got a 21-speed Specialized but I wanna get something else too.

Nah I copped the metakoo electric off Amazon.....it's not listed on there anymore....:patrice:

It cost me 800. And I've ridden over 800 miles. Rode in the rain, mud, night, day, morning...

It works....I don't know if $1 per mile is the best way to justify the purchase. I guess I'll see how it holds up next year and the year after. But for now it's good, it works.

I usually ride it to work and on the way home from work. It has all the gears as a regular mountain bike/hybrid bike. So if I want to use a little throttle to cross a busy street or boost up a hill or maintain speed up a hill I use it and if I just feel like riding regular I don't use it.

It definitely sounds like you’ve gotten your moneys worth.
