Exactly. I’m sure if both men know how truly serious this shyt was they’d gladly have just lost they’re jobs. It’s more of a commentary of how brutal the rat race is. Raymond’s dad was scared to lose just one day of work cause of him either losing his job or losing the money that would cripple someone who’s most likely living check to check.

And Tron’s dad knows better than anyone how hard it is to find work with a record.

I don't think Omar realised how bad it could get because he believed the cop telling him if Tron Cooperates he'll get to go home.

Why that nikka Korey ain't fight back:hhh:. I understand the first fight cause he was young as shyt in there with them grown men both after he kept getting switched to other jails why didn't he join a cliq like his man did with the Muslims
He was the only one that went to a grown up jail as a kid which kind of made him food.

Also his mans Yusef was already a Muslim and came from a Muslim family. So it only made sense for him to click up with the “brothers”.

Finished the first episode, very impressive, and also devastating, what strikes me most of the first episode, is how it showcases how vulnerable the working class is (esp if black), those men HAD to prioritize their jobs like that, because that was all that was standing between their good kids and the street, not to mention themselves.

The first scenes set the tone of late 80's Harlem perfectly, not that I was there, but having been you can feel that energy and feeling in the old buildings and the music playing on all corners. Very bittersweet to open with what feels like a childhood nostalgia, akin to Juice, opening scenes, spiral into a waking nightmare.

And lastly, racism/implicit bias aside, the detective made the fatal error in cases and let her first assumption cloud the entire case, she seemed to never even consider the possibility the events where unrelated, so she formed tunnel vision and doubled down, again and again, destroying a few dozen lives, white not getting justice for the victim either.

Wouldn't a coroners report detail different types of DNA/semen samples? Evidence of multiple suspects? Also, shows the confusion that comes with hysteria in these cases that catch fire in the media.

@Nicole0416

Are you watching this?
Not yet. I have to build up the emotional tolerance to look at it, idk if that makes any sense but that’s how I feel. I watched it all play out in real time and I remember the vibe of the city when all that was going down. I watched the original 2012 documentary. To see it acted out and dramatized- I have to be mentally prepared for it - saving it for the weekend. I know there’s people out here experiencing similar situations in real life daily. And I know firsthand how fukked up the judicial system is and what goes on with the legal manipulation behind the scenes. This is more than a movie. So many people locked up or gone that I’ve been around - families affected- shyt hurts tbh. No “happy” or alternate ending either way that it plays out. Lot of unresolved conflict as it is with our communities - depressing.

Just finished watching Part 4. Korey a real one man he stood his ground when it came time to Parole hearing and never lied so that he could get out early :mjcry:
The fact he lost his brother :mjcry:
The fact is only friend was that white officer :mjcry:
He was damn near brought to the edge of losing his mind and spirit from all the shyt that happened but didn't
That nutass fukking black officer :pacspit:
fukking LINDA and that other white officer who refused to admit the truth to the fact they rather believe their lies :pacspit:
This was absolutely amazing this shyt is fukking sad don't get it twisted but I recommend this shyt. It shows that even now the judicial system needs a whole revamp and that when it comes to us and minorities in general we don't get a fair chance at all.
The fact that the first thing the police did was round up black kids and branded them guilty from the jump with no evidence because of the fact that a woman got raped (specifically a white woman even though the rape was still fukked up don't get it twisted)....I don't even want to finish my thought this type of shyt annoys me and they wonder why a majority of black people don't trust the authorities :leostare:

I feel you. I watched the documentary too but in this series, the only thing I didn't know about was Korey Wise went through especially in the 4th episode, he got the worse all of them than boys that didn't tell in the documentary so I guess he decided to tell the story now.

However, they need to watch that shyt anyway cause this shyt could have happened to your kids. This is real life story.

The sad part about even adults don't know how to handle the court system. Even adults without a lawyer, but teenagers. One of them his mother didn't even know they had him in custody.

Trust me, You would feel much better if you watch with your kids with this series. My older brother did watch witth his 14 year old son with this show. He has 3 sons, 14, 8, 5.

They all go to white schools. My brother has to school them especially the older son, the police is not your friend
