I had to read that 4 times before I understood it. And the 4th time was through your quote 3 hours later. But I get it. Unfortunately, he's wrong. Beto speaking spanish or Kamala talking about busing as a kid doesn't speak to whether that person is qualified to be President or even has good policies. But determining "how left" someone or a political party is very important. Especially in the U.S. where "left" is considered a dirty word and is enough reason for even liberals to shun anything related to it. Americans need to understand what "the left" really is, where we fall in the actual spectrum, and accept that "the left" and by extension socialism are not bad things. In fact, we've been benefiting from them for decades now.
