Game 1 killed their willpower in my opinion. Game 2 they put a good fight for a while but honestly seeing how many stars GSW has, its not even fun to watch them. Not hating, they did it the right way through the draft and FA but adding KD is pretty much unfair, way more potent than LeBron with the heat but in the general sense it's same. "NOT 1,2,3,or 4", Lebrons words...
I know he's frustrated as hell but if he does stay in CLE he can't go thru what he did this year. Again If he goes WEST then that will make the NBA more unwatchable in my opinion. To me his logical choices are to figure out a way to add a guy who can create his own shot. Even if he goes to philly, you really think embiid & simmons will be ready for a loaded boston team or even worse HOU or GS?
I agree with kobe, LeBron is ball dominant that he has made EVERYONE he played with spot up shooters, look at what happen to bosh's game when he went to Miami, K-love the same. Hood couldn't get in the rotation,etc... Right constructed I don't know what wiggle room they have roster wise to sway him, maybe derozen from Toronto or power move for kwahi.
Oh no question Game 1 was awful for morale. There's legitimate criticism that Lebron could've rallied the troops in that time before overtime, but I'm sympathetic - that was a massive team collapse after playing a damn near perfect game. That shyt would probably break anyone but a complete psychopath.
Agree on Game 2 - no way they were winning that.
Kobe's criticism is fair - just had a chance to read that piece he was interviewed for in the New York Times.
I've always thought that because Lebron is so damn good at
everything, the way for him to work with whatever talent he's got on the roster is to first identify their particular strengths. If they're rhythm shooters, let them get into a rhythm. If they're good finishers, let them work that drive and kick play he's got down pat. If they bang in the post, then let them do that. And so on down the line. Once those strengths have been identified, then Lebron steps in to fill any gaps - whether its shooting (he's a damn good shooter now, its incredible how much he's progressed), passing, post play, driving to the rim, whatever. Because of his size and dexterity, dude can legit play (as well as guard) 1-5. He's a human Swiss Army Knife.
Then at the end of games, if shyt is close or guys are having off nights, give Lebron carte blanche to take over and just do all that amazing Lebron shyt (like that pass to himself off the backboard with the dunk finish
)
This is sort of like how Belichick approaches building & fielding a football team - he fires scouts and coordinators that tell him all the things a player
can't do. His focus is always on what they
can do, and then putting them into a position to succeed given those talents. He's got the GOAT QB that can get any of them the ball anywhere it needs to be, so he can stay 100% focused on how to leverage that amazing asset into wins.
I know its a bit counterintuitive to focus on players
other than your all-time great superstar when thinking about the sort of offense you're trying to build...but I really think it could work just because of how amazing Lebron is.
