When Madame Web bombs at the box office will that put an end to all high budget female led superhero movies?

you right breh.

Had to have my eyelids taped and hands clamped to a chair just to watch Kill Bill and Mean Girls
Nobody called you out by name. You telling on yourself.

If the movie ain’t for you, don’t watch it.

Religious themed movies aren’t for me but I’d never expect them to stop making them if they don’t do numbers.

On another note, the coli isn’t asking when will they stop making male lead movies when they flop?

It’s so weird how dudes fixate on movies and games with female leads that don’t do well but won’t call for action when male lead games and movies fail.

This isn't about the MCU. Personally I thought that the majority of MCU was shyt.
But it is as far as standards people push. They put MCU movies on a pedestal when most of them are no better than non-MCU movies. They also want SM to revert to Disney for some reason, like they're not making their own shyt-to-mid movies. It's weird.

So women are supporting these movies as compared to others? Surely you have proof of that.

In any case, it also seems like a copout answer since we've had female led action movies that have done well, and blaming some random group and calling them weak doesn't change the fact that such a group still exists and apparently, their patronage is needed to do well.

Movie might actually do something, if they market it right. Unlike Marvels (outside of Teyonah) it got some eye candy in it, if they just play that up and you might get some people into the theatre.

I don’t care enough to do the research. We both doing the Spider-Man meme pointing at each other but I can admit I’m not researching the topic.

I’d be willing to bet the drop off in viewership is greater comparing males to females.

To your final point, pandering to the group isn’t required to do well unless every movie has to do Spider-Man numbers. I don’t know what financial success looks like for this movie but I doubt the group that needs pandering and the studio view it the same.

I’m still wondering how they’re going to explain Madame Web’s youth considering that the majority of people only remember the older version. If anything, the confusion is goi to hurt the film as well.

Why should they? Apparently the movie is targeted to a certain demographic, I doubt they expect to do avengers numbers with this. The movie is a success as long as the movie hits the financial marker they aimed for

The better question is why do all female led superhero movies do worse at the box office, especially the ones in a make believe universe where having superpowers explains why women can be the lead and heroic.

My answer is some dudes are too mentally weak to watch women do great things :yeshrug:
The bolded is totally incorrect. Women aren't the target market for comic books. How many girls you knew growing up were watching superhero cartoons or reading comics on the regular? Never?

For example. The Barbie movie didn't try to cater to men. They served their target audience, and if other demographics care to watch, fine.
