Would you rather America have those jobs or not?
You think you sound like a parent telling their kid to eat their brussel sprouts but really you just sound like a corporate hegemony ho.

Which makes no sense because people actually in that position wouldn't be posting on this site but all viewpoints no matter how awful are contributions I guess :ld:

The american worker needs work.

But you keep advocating policies that aren't helping them.

Which is it?

I'm saying that expectations of comfort are over-blown and treated as protected species

What you are advocating goes beyond removing comfort from someone's life and gets to the point where you are endangering their ability to live. You are talking about basic shyt like feeding your kids, not sleeping on the street, not shytting on the curb, and being able to see a doctor when you get sick like it's a plush ass luxury.

Lets be honest.

The WORST worker in America, lives a global life of luxury.

And I venture, that if certain pressures of consumerism were removed, they would live better lives.

By the way, why aren't any of these countries that have workers working at these ludicrously low wages dominating the world militarily or politically? China has 4 times our population, and they supposedly have all the jobs, they should be able to steamroll us, not just be competitive. India is about as globally relevant as the U.K. with 20 times the population.

Maybe, but you aren't advocating for workers to work at low-American levels. You aren't asking why guys aren't happy with 8-9 dollars an hour, because all the entry wage jobs that aren't in certain states are already there. You are asking to be competitive with Latin America and their $4-5/day wages.

It's hilarious because the poorest in this country aren't living in mud huts with holes for bathrooms that they don't deserve better and should learn their place. shytting on the worst off instead of acknowledging the complete distribution of wealth to the top classes over the past 30 years. Instead of tackling that issue you want those same people to decide what to pay their employees and dictate to them a social contract just above indentured servitude.

What you don't understand is we are living your idea out right now. The worker in America has no say. You think killing the wage floor will bring jobs back but it will make them send more jobs overseas. Because once you tell them they can pay whatever they'll pull benefits, sick and maternity leave, retirement plans etc. And once the "spoiled" American worker complains about that the companies will just move back overseas where they're not regulated to care about all that. So then the American worker will look to the government for support for those benefits they lost and congratulations you've created an even bigger welfare state.
