Because the religious like to impose their belief system (without any evidence of it being right, and certainly not making sense) on the rest of society to the point where it actually is harmful. No reason to treat religion with kid gloves. If something is stupid, may as well call a spade a spade. In TX the religious right was fighting to take critical thought out of the curriculum. It's not believing in God that suggests issues of intelligence (though intelligence isn't always a major factor in why people believe- you can be intelligent and still be a believer, though the belief itself may be unintelligent.) It's particular definitions of God. The idea of a personal deity that fits the incoherent description of the immature, anthropomorphic being described in the Bible is rife with logical and philosophical issues. That's why so many believers end up resorting to hermetic and complicated interpretations that ignore or transform the literal or original descriptions into something more appealing.

ultimately religion like many other things in life is a distraction. there's many things wrong in the black community which need to be addressed politically but church folks are too easily controlled to even raise questions. according to yall yall reward is in heaven. if sh1t is to go down church folks won't want to get dirty because yall been trained not to get their hands dirty. at least white folks aren't afraid to bus they gunz.

i met this one young brother about a month ago at this one job i was contracted and he walked up to me and we chatted for a bit. (at work i come across as "just another worker"). but he said there was something about me that pulled him to me . i can't front.. he was good looking peaceful minded dude too . of course he started all the proselytizing which wasn't gonna go anywhere with me but i'm not rude about it. i know all we both kept thinking in our heads was "what a waste. i could use this brother in my team". we coincidentally met for 3 consecutive days and we kept saying the same thing to each other and it seemed like a stale mate.
it was a nice chat though. conversion is not easy. converting a black folk ain't easy. converting a black folk imo is kinda not worth it and next to impossible. white folk are easier to deal with because lots of white folk are already non-believers or don't believe in that sh1t anyway. and non-believing white folk know how to act .

People are just shocked and amazed when they see there are people with different viewpoints than themselves. And realistically speaking, none of the atheists on The Coli are those a$$holes who are annoying about it. Rather they simply enjoy trolling the fukk out of hyper-religious posters who come on here and try to use flawed logic to defend things that are either morally or ethically wrong or just plain crazy.

If you believe that the earth is only 6000 years old you are wrong and fukking stupid, and no we should not take your views into account because the very technology you use to post that drivel would not be possible without men and women who used thoughts and ideas that would invalidate that theory completely. Same goes for anyone that thinks they could survive being in a whale's stomach or anything like that. Stop being stupid my dude, it's ok to have religious beliefs that are grounded in reality, that actually HELPS your case.

If you believe that Jesus never existed, you are also a fool because science has proven that this person did exist, it just hasn't proven that the many things that are attributed to him actually occurred, for various reasons including gravity.
