yea really. If it wasn't for the fact that I want to have kids and a family one day I would not be interested in marriage.

people always got all these random exceptions here and there. at the end of the day the numbers don't lie. majority of the time kids born into a situation with married parents typically fare better in having a chance at a quality life than those born to unwed parents
And fifty percent of marriages end in divorce. So half those kidsin married homes getting fukked anyway. It's not about being married. It's about not having trifling ass parents.

Call me old-fashioned, but what's the point :dahell:

Let's touch on the issue, you ARE bringing a child into this world WITHOUT a family structure. Now, I'm talking about ALL races/ethnic groups in general :shaq2: What's the plan for when the child comes? How will he/or she have a good foundation/family structure? You do need a village to raise a child :snoop: In today's world (USA Wise) you don't really have that anymore :martin: Also, what's the point of having unprotected sex? It's reckless and you are at RISK of bringing a child into this world. I've made a pledge to myself to NOT have a child until I'm married :manny: My point, people should atleast settle down or marry before bringing a kid into this world :mjcry: Kids NEED a strong family structure. Those types of traditional values are needed in some way. I say this as a centre-leftist:mjgrin:

P.S. I say this as a person who was brought up with BOTH parents. They were married for 23 years at that point. Now, they have been together for 40 something years.

signing an 'I love you' contract aka marriage doesn't make you better parents it doesn't even create a foundation

you people are so conditioned its unreal, you can have un married parents that love each other and raise kids well, and a married couple that are terrible parents.

:salute:

Thank you!

I thank my mom and dad (who have been happily married for 35+ years) for telling me and my siblings at a young age not to have kids unless we were married and financially stable.

I still live by their words.

Africans and west indians look down in general on this degenerate baby mama/baby daddy/stepdad/stepmom dysfunctional family unit culture fostered here in the states. And for good reason. Women cannot teach men to be men. Only men can and it takes two to raise a child.

It's a multi faceted issue, it's a pretty naive position, and though it hasn't, and won't be that way for me, I understand how it happens to people. A lot of people close to me had kids way too early, there are cultural reasons, socioeconomic reasons, religious ones, and yes people are 'stupid', but it's not quite that simple. You can condescend like that, esp. if you don't understand, a woman whom I've been in love since we were kids, she is very smart, very financially secure, and not by any means promiscuous, she's having her second kid with a different man. And it hurts me, because I always thought she was destined for more then just a Mom, living in the same place her whole life, but I see how it happened to her. She asked me If I had kids, and i said 'No', she was like look at your face, like you were disgusted......Funny, but I wasn't even trying to let her see that really, because it's insulting.
