He never LED his team to anything

He had Ray Allen Pierce and KG

Damn near any NBA PG in that spot woudve had postseason success

Prove it. I'll give you a hint: you can't.

I go by what I know. I know that Rondo showed out on those Celtics teams (especially from 2009-2012) and proved that HE is a force to be reckoned with. Triple doubles in the playoffs for fun. Damn near averaging a triple-double in the playoffs. Dropping 44 points on LeBron and co. in the playoffs. 4 all-star team selections. Dude, just stop. For you or anybody else to argue that Rondo's success is solely because of playing with Ray, Pierce, and KG is being intellectually disingenuous. His stats and playoff performances prove that you're wrong. Just admit you don't like the guy.

Go holla at Mario Chalmers' bum-ass.

Y'all are ignoring/overlooking an entire host of reasons why you guys could very well be incorrect.

first bolded
Rondo hasn't been 100% since the beginning of the 2012/13 season. This is obviously due to multiple injuries (including the one he suffered right before the season started and his more recent injury to his face)

second bolded
to our knowledge, Rondo clashed with Doc Rivers only once (which was when they almost came to blows); since that incident, Doc has been on record praising Rondo as a player and a teammate (even now that he's with the Clippers); the reason Doc left wasn't because of Rondo but was because he didn't want to be part of a rebuilding process; the narrative about Rondo clashing with coaches is shaky at best

Ray Allen and Rondo didn't get along but judging by how they played together, you would've never known; Ray left because he didn't want to be pushed out of the starting lineup and come off the bench (at that point of the career); moreover, Ray was salty that the Celtics were looking to deal him before the trade deadline in his last season; Rondo and Ray's relationship (although far from friendly) was never a major issue...or at leats not to the point where Rondo needs to be question

moreover, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins, Jared Sullinger, and other teammates have nothing but positive things to say about Rondo and remain in frequent contact with him on a personal level.

in short, the whole "Rondo doesn't get along with coaches/players" argument is overblown.

third bolded
you're being ridiculous now. :mjlol:

not top 5 (based on this season alone)? most likely. not top 10? arguable. not top 15? you buggin.

dude's still the league leader in triple-doubles, leading rebounder for PGs, and is near the top of the league with assists; before he was dealt, he was the league-leader in assists THIS SEASON with a much poorer supporting cast than the PGs you compare him to

safe to say, had he not been traded, he would've likely been at the top of the league for assists

you focus on his one weakness (his shooting) and overlook a couple of things:
1. EVERYBODY knows Rondo is a pass-first PG; this isn't a secret; however, everybody knows Rondo's beautiful body of work (especially in the playoffs when
he's surrounded by good/great players)...expecting Rondo to dominate on offense (in terms of shooting) is ridiculous and is pointless to mention...Rondo
dominates on offense by being an excellent playmaker/assist man
2. players' free agency value is determined based on teams' needs; arguing that Rondo doesn't deserve to be one of the highest-paid players on his team
because of his shooting % is ridiculous...a healthy Rondo is a top-passer/playmaker and a superb defender, no questions asked...plenty of teams need
a player with Rondo's skill-set (alleged shooting deficiencies aside) and playoffs experience to win...Rondo will get paid.
3. the teams that will be looking at Rondo will presumably be contenders/playoff teams with much superior supporting casts than the one he had in Boston (or
even now in Dallas); the idea of a HEALTHY Rondo on a contender/playoff team with great pieces is enticing to any savvy coach or GM; Rondo will get paid

go take your medicine. seriously. your comment reeks of being "in the moment" and of selective amnesia.

as mentioned before, Rondo hasn't been 100% healthy since the 2012/13 season.

since his return at the end of last season (where he played 30 games), he had to play with a very different team than he had before. the team was practically ready for rebuilding. this points to the fact that Rondo in the past 2 years (aside from being less than 100% healthy) had to play with vastly inferior teammates as compared to, say, Curry, Westbrook, Wall, Lowry, Conley, Lillard, and even Parker. yet, even before he was traded mid-season, he was the league leader in assists

make no mistake about it, Rondo is still a starter and is still a very good PG...if he doesn't finish strong this season, you can count on next season being his best season

hell, name me a PG right now who puts up triple-doubles for fun in the PLAYOFFS and leads his team to conference finals and finals

you saying he's not even a starter is ridiculous

the Rondo disrespect on this site...:scust::scust::scust::scust::scust::scust:
Curry Westbrook Paul Conley Lawson Rubio Lowry Teague Lillard Knight Bledsoe Dragic Irving Evans Wall Rose have all been better this season. Hell, Jennings has an argument with how he was balling before the injury, but I won't list him due to small sample size

Rubio was also young with upside. Rondo isn't exactly old, but his best days appear to be behind him

Rondo is 28 years old and has missed a lot of time since 2012/13 because of injury...he has plenty of time ahead and has shown in flashes this year that he has plenty left in the tank...you're guessing at best.

GMs don't give big contracts to players (PGs especially) based on one season alone. They look at the player's entire body of work. They're looking for players who can give them the best chance at WINNING when it matters---->PLAYOFFS & FINALS

all those guys you named haven't accomplished as much as Rondo when it comes to WINNING

Curry: fantastic REGULAR season (MVP candidate); postseason performance has yet to be seen
Westbrook: fantastic REGULAR season; strong postseason performances but he is also the reason why OKC loses in the playoffs
Paul: has this guy even been to a conference finals? he's also the guy who lost it for the Clippers the past 2 years...mr. dribble, dribble
Conley: I like this kid a lot but he hasn't done what Rondo has
Lawson: pfft..playoffs?
Rubio: pfft...playoffs?
Teague: he's come a long way and I'm glad he was an all-star; but how will he do in the playoffs? hope it's better than a one-and-done
Lillard: needs to step it up in the playoffs
Knight: just got traded because Kidd wants a pass-first PG; he ain't doing shyt in the playoffs
Bledsoe: pfft...playoffs?
Dragic: pfft...playoffs?
Irving: pfft...playoffs?
Evans: you've gone full-retard
Wall: let's see what he does this postseason
Rose: :deadrose:
Jennings: :heh:

Rubio plays better defense, and is a much better passer. He also is quicker with ball decisions.

What are you winning with Rubio? :mjlol:

Are you having a winning season? Are you getting into the playoffs? The conference championship? Finals?

And :russ::russ::russ::russ: at you thinking Rubio's a better defender or passer than Rondo.

its funny how as soon as it looks like somebody may be on the outs with a team, people immediately start writing off their careers.

:pachaha:

Rondo dominated offenses dont get you anywhere, Dallas finding that out first hand. Gutted their depth for a dude who most likely wont be back

gutted what depth?

the best players they gave up were jameer who they didnt need with rondo there. and brandan knight, but now they have amare so hes obsolete as well.

Like Rondo was the reason for their ring?

Rondo as the leader was a mediocre offense of the Celtics, and has looked like ass since he came back. Before Rubio tore his acl, that wolves team was playoff bound.

Rondo hasnt done shyt as the "guy" and has fallen off. And Rubio has always been a better passer and defender

I would take Rubio over Rondo right now. :francis:

I love Rondo but I would too. He's been balling since he got back from the ankle injury. Young, quick, great passer, steal machine, improving his shot and money at the free throw line.

I think Rubio and Wiggins will be fun to watch for the next 10 years if they stick together.

Rondo has been so bad I almost feel hoodwinked by what he did in Boston. He needs to work on his shot badly and needs to be more aggressive driving to the hole. Thing is he's scared to do it because he sucks at free throws. Don't know what's wrong with dude. So talented. shyt is mad annoying breh.

No, I'm stating what it is...the majority of those guys you listed haven't accomplished what Rondo has in the postseason...which is really what GMs/coaches look for in free agency.

You're resorting to personal attacks because you can't logically refute my argument. I deconstructed your anti-Rondo rhetoric with facts.
