Reggie had a multi-year deal. Rondo and the Kings agreed to a one-year deal. Most all-star/superstar players intentionally had an option for the upcoming free agency period inserted in their contracts so they could take advantage of the TV deal contracts and get that $$$$$. That's why Rondo wanted a one-year contract. Reggie Jackson won't be commanding what Rondo will next summer hence why he jumped at his new contract.
