What’s harder: A regular person hitting a homer against a MLB pitcher or hitting a Hole-in-One on a PGA course?

I can understand ppl saying HR is harder BUT I think y'all sleeping on the PGA hole on one

If prime Tiger woods is happy to make in in 3 shots, a rando off the couch making a hole in 1 from the pro tees is damn near impossible

They both impossible....a reg Joe Dirt has as much chance getting lucky contact off a MLB pitcher for a HR as he does hitting a ball 350 yards off a tee and keeping it in the middle of the fairway....

US Open had a Par 3 playing at 80 yards this year, they not all 200+

Thats a bullshyt par 3 and a regular person with no experience still isnt making that in less than a double....We talking about dudes that havent played golf and never swung off a tee before ZERO chance they making a hole in one at even 40 yards...

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
Good question.

But the question is- what do you mean by regular? A regular person with 0 experience? Or a regular golfer/baseball player? Because there are clearly more "regular" golfers walking around, it would appear that a hole-in-one should be much easier.

Hell, even I was within 3 feet within a hole-in-one on the 16th at TPC Scottsdale last fall.

But the numbers tell a different story:

Odds of a professional PGA getting a hole in one: 1 in 2,500
Odds of a professional MLB hitting a HR: 1 in 20

Hitting a hole-in-one is significantly more difficult (statistically speaking) than hitting a HR.

You can make the argument that getting to the MLB is much harder than making it to the PGA, but I wouldn't say its 100x more difficult.

that stat shows one has to do with skill and the other with luck, even for the pros.

WHAT QUALIFIES AS A REGULAR PERSON?

NO EXPERIENCE AT THE SPORT
OR JUST A NON PRO IN
THAT SPORT?

Average beer league softball player vs once a week golfer, that how I'm answering

I think no matter what though, the answer is baseball. You can know what you're doing and luck into a hole in one, pga course or not. You aren't hitting a homerun off a mlb pitcher, not gonna happen.

I say hole in one, simply because even for the best in the world, the statistical probability of hitting one is insanely low compared to a pro in baseball hitting a homerun
Well this is about a normal person doing it, not professionals thus making it harder to hit a home run. Reading is fundamental folks

A once a week casual golfer is not lucking into a hole in one....some of you have never golfed before that much is clear...

A hole in one is only happening on a par 3 hole so the distance from the tee can only be so far like under 300 yds. Thats a 3-5 iron for an average adult male. Even a nikka who never golfed can get the ball on the green

U gotta already be swinging before u even see the ball when its a mlb pitcher and u gotta have the power to get it over the wall

Hole in one is way more realistic
Nah. If a nikka never golf before he aint even hitting that shyt 20 yards :dead:

Regular ppl with no experience are hitting hole in 1s on a par 4 or 5 ? get the fukk outta here
i missed the part where OP said it has to be a par 4 or 5. the vast majority of hole in ones are par 3s. even pros aren't hitting par 4 and 5 hole in ones like that, way more uncommon. when someone talks about hitting a hole in one you can be pretty sure they're talking about a par 3.

and in my post you quoted i compared it to a high school baseball player that isn't good enough to be drafted because obviously in either situation no one is achieving either feat by dumb luck or otherwise if they have zero experience with the sport (don't know to grip a club or bat, etc). the equivalent golfer to that high school baseball player has a better chances at making a lucky par 3 hole in one vs high school player getting a lucky swing for the fences off a MLB pitcher. both are regular people to me. when it comes to golf i consider john smoltz a regular person because that wasn't his area of expertise and he said on a broadcast this week that he has like 12 hole in ones in his golfing life.

I golf. I'm not a good golfer. Probably play 5 times a year and I know for a fact I could hit a fukking hole in one at Augusta faster then I could hit a homerun off of any mlb pitcher.

A nikka whos never golfed is putting tee shots on the green lolol

I know as a fact youre not putting a tee shot anywhere near the green if you never played and ill give you 100 tries....

You cant my dude....if you play 5 times a year you not even close to par on any round....the arrogance to think you go from 30-40 strokes over to hitting hole in 1s is wild....you couldnt make a hole in one faster cuz both of them you are absolutely not doing.
