See I think he just didn't care. I believe him when he got the belt at 23 things changed. He just doesn't care. He had 3 instances to quit in the octagon but didn't. Pop toe against Sonnen, armbar against Belfort and 5 round fight (most would argue it was a war) against Alex... didn't quit. I seperate how he carries himself in the octagon differently than outside of it.

To be fair he didn't even realize what had happened to his toe until he was being interviewed and once he saw it (despite running on adrenaline) he acted like his water broke.

I am not going to touch the belfort armbar because an idiot with misplaced pride could just as decide they'd rather be in cast than tap not always a sign of mental toughness. And if belfort really had it Jones's arm would've snapped..
