Don't get me wrong, I prefer Java but learning garbage collection, memory allocation and making your own data structures is very important. C for systems programming and databases are very important as well.

i dont know where to find anything. my friends that got apprenticeships only got them because their family knows the people and they all work at the same
place. i have literally zero connections like that.

You do have connections. You said they were your "friends" keep in contact with them. And stay vigilant looking for job openings. Networking is the best way to get a job.

As for your current situation it depends on what to wanna do. There is plenty of loan/grant money available for you to go to school. And there we also programs that will help you go get training for a trade. It just depends on what you want to do. Not having a highschool diploma is a detriment but the further you move away from that through a trade or college the less it will matter.

Java is nice because of the ease and the popularity of Android. You can do much worse but can also do better in terms of languages. Better to know one than to know none in the end.
