What would be your scheme to gameplan for Lamar Jackson?

First off I'd make sure my defense has a lunch pale mentality of coming to work every day. We would play the right way, no flash or bling bling. Just blue collar, nose to the grind stone effort. I know that would be enough to stop a football player like Lamar Jackson.

Do y’all coli defensive coordinators really think these NFL DC’s haven’t already tried what y’all have said? :russ:

You’re not going to have somebody spy on him because he’ll juke you then outrun you, if you’re too aggressive then they’ll just play action and kill you with the TE’s and Hollywood Brown

Tried to tell these nikkas that earlier in the thread :mjlol:

Even got @Leasy bringing up Jim Johnson. Man Vick could never throw the ball like Lamar (and I’m not just talking pure arm strength cuz we know Vick has the stronger arm). You blitz Lamar he’s gonna make you pay, he’s improved leaps and bounds as a pure QB with his decision making and how he fits the ball into tight windows.

Best thing you can do is limit his possessions, slow the game down when you’re on offense (like the 49ers) and work for turnovers when you get a chance to tackle him (strip the ball, fukk the big hit)

Eagles didnt blitz but showed diffrent looks pre-snap and had their D Ends not rush which created a bubble around Vick or could be Jackson.

The defensive scheme mad Vick read the defense and adjust consistently at pre-snap.

And that’s what Lamar excels at now moe, that’s why teams have been getting torched. You don’t rush him he’s gonna cut you up, you blitz him he’s gonna cut you up. He’s not Vick, you can’t play him like a QB who WANTS to run. Lamar WANTS to stay in the pocket and throw the ball

And the bigger problem is you HAVE to attack the gaps because Ingram will kill you if you don’t.

if you just try to stay back and react to Lamar then Ingram will be in your second level all game long and it won’t matter if Lamar is running or not.

Like I said earlier there is no defensive scheme to stop him. It hasn’t been created yet, maybe next season we see it...maybe not. Everything these nikkas are saying is shyt they’ve seen in games or madden. That clearly won’t work.

Hope he slows down. He is too fast. :yeshrug:

Hope it rains, which negates speed, like the game against the 49ers. Even then, they had that long sustained drive for several minutes to allow Tucker to seal the victory.

Have a good offense and good QB that can wrestle the tempo battle from the Ravens.

In their two losses, KC and Cleveland's offense dictated the tempo and shredded the defense.

But even with the 2 losses this year, that was on the defense. Once they got Peters in the trade and put others at the right positions, the defense has been solidified.

The Ravens defense still has its weaknesses. The last 2 weeks, there were plays to be made, but QB's like Josh Allen and Darnold could not make them. You can run the football on the Ravens D.

Accounting for Lamar's ability to run, opens everything else for everybody.

Everything is dependent on him. His play helps everybody and makes everybody better, keeps the defense rested. All 3 TE's are a match-up problem. You got bruising RB's in Ingram and Edwards. Lamar can throw the ball where it needs to be.

And if it all that breaks down, Lamar, the fastest guy on the field, can outrun and juke just about anyone.

Gregg Williams, Bellichick, Carroll, Phillips.

Some of the best defensive minds in football

All of them were :mjcry: on game day against Lamar.

Lamar shredded all of them. :whew:

I'm gonna put my Bill Belicek hat on

you have to beat him with a variety of looks

I would run a 3-4, 2-5, 46

you have to run a mush rush to take away the running lanes

spy with a fast safety

mix zone & man coverage

trust your corners against their receivers

adjust your coverages to his tendencies

tackling on first contact is also super impt

easier said than done but I think Belicek could do it

Johnson also had his ends come off the ball under control against the Falcons. He didn't want them attacking and getting out of position. He wanted them to focus on stopping the run and keeping Vick in the pocket. The Eagles were going to dare Vick to pass, which wasn't his strength.

Beyond that, Johnson wanted to confuse Vick with pre-snap looks. The Eagles didn't blitz much in the game, but did use a lot of eight-man fronts. Johnson had the extra defender come into the box at the last moment so Vick would have less time to read the defense and make a good initial read.

Y’all forget Vick admitted he didn’t take reviewing tape or schematic prep seriously

Lamar’s football IQ and decision making is wayyy better than Vick
