I personally think Economics has the greatest crossover appeal amongst degrees. It appeals to both the financial world and the social science one.

As for getting a PhD in psychology...I wouldn't bank on it. Not to discourage you, but I'm just being real about it. I use to work as an admissions officer for a top school with a Psych PhD program and the competition is ruthless. The acceptance rate is like 5% from highly qualified people...the comp at lesser schools is almost as bad.

When it comes to a legit PhD program, it takes quite a bit of luck.

Agreed...I've also read and heard that many businesses prefer Economics degrees over BBA degrees because individuals develop more writing and social skills.

So it might end up being an interesting study for you, and you can still apply it to get a job :manny:

international business and accounting go to a good school.

learn a trade

psch is a bs degree everyone and their mother had a bachelors in it when I was in school

if you don't have a personality and know how to find a career in things outside of your degree scope you'll never find anything.
You need to really apply yourself to create your own field/niche with the degree you hold.

I got to Trigonometry and stopped.

Funny thing is most people think I'm great at math since I'm a financial analyst. But that's just a title, my job is actually 75% accountant, 15% financial analyzing, 10% contract specialist. The math involved is basic.

you were almost there......:ehh:

Only read the first page, but go with your passion. Take as many classes in as many different fields as you can while getting your general studies out of the way, and if you're still passionate about psych, then go for it.

College is more about acquiring skills to find a good job. That's not it's essential purpose. If you're passionate about a certain topic, then you're doing yourself a disservice by not pursuing it.

Im 23 and idk what to go to school for

Whatever you want. Take classes in everything that piques your interest as long as it satisfies graduation requirements. You could find something that you want to learn more about, or maybe even have a career in.

Talk with professors, go to job fairs, sit in on classes that you're not taking. You have to assert yourself and be proactive in order to be successful in anything, and that definitely applies here.

Just don't go to University of Oregon. Come up to UW if you got that out-of-state guap :youngsabo:

So I'm 25 and been in school since January just getting my basic stuff done.

I haven't been 100% on what I actually want to do for the rest of my life and time isn't slowing down so I really need to get on track and figure it out.

I WAS thinking about getting a degree in business, not because I have a passion for it or anything, but because it seems more applicable in the real world

Now

Im considering a degree in psychology, it's something that always has been a HUGE interest to me BUT I'm already 25 and feel like it might be too late to get involved in all that.. Plus my girl who is planning on going to med school said there really aren't a lot of careers out there for that major, yet it's something I could see myself being passionate about

breh, forget all of that and start stacking certificates to become a network engineer. avoid business/economics degrees. I REPEAT: AVOID ANY DEGREE TO DO WITH BUSINESS.

Got this from US News and World:
Recent studies by the University of Michigan suggest that Finessin & Flexin majors make 10 tons more cocaine than all other majors

I'm not sold on an Economics degree like a lot people in here.

It's just not specific enough and you don't learn an actual skill.

If you are looking for something that has Good job demand and you can make good money there is no "easy" major.

Nursing- recession proof, only need a 4 year degree.
