why?

My girl says that there are people in their late 30's in her pre med classes

Well a lot of psychologist start their career with getting recruited from the "big 4" and I remember reading that they try to stay away from people over 30. Remember it's gon take you at least 5 years to get your masters and than an extra year to get your CPA

So I'm 25 and been in school since January just getting my basic stuff done.

I haven't been 100% on what I actually want to do for the rest of my life and time isn't slowing down so I really need to get on track and figure it out.

I WAS thinking about getting a degree in business, not because I have a passion for it or anything, but because it seems more applicable in the real world

Now

Im considering a degree in psychology, it's something that always has been a HUGE interest to me BUT I'm already 25 and feel like it might be too late to get involved in all that.. Plus my girl who is planning on going to med school said there really aren't a lot of careers out there for that major, yet it's something I could see myself being passionate about

I PROMISE you getting a degree in Psychology is a waste of fukking money

I have one...u need to ask ureself if ure willing to go on and get ure masters degree, and ure doctorate...cause if not, ure wasting ure time. if u are...then go for it...but theres not backing out once u commit to medschool. U cant pay off those loans working at Walmart

But I will say...it at least "helps" to apply to other positions open in any field, and to atleast be able to say u have a "4 year degree" even though itd be better to say "i have this much work experience"

Really? At State I'm pretty sure you had to take up to at least Calc 4 for Computer Engineering, but I could be wrong.

You can definitely get into IT without much math but I thought you pretty much needed it for the engineering side.

well... I wouldn't consider myself good at math.. I pass math classes and even difficult ones. But in my industry there are some math geniuses. I'm not on that level, but I guess it's perspective and who you're around.

Yes you need calc. mainly you need to be good at stats, Linear Algebra, probability, and calc.

However, technology is where it's at. I say at the very least he look into becoming a IT business Analyst.

Do psychology if you like it, if you looking for a hustle pick the major that brings the most money. Either way you won't starve. Its pretty much well known you'll make about $30 - 35k/year with only a bachelor's.

Unemployment for those with a master's or doctorate is less than 1%, for those with only a bachelor's it is much higher. A lot of people with a master's make at least $60k a year and usually work in group practice seeing their own patients.

Everyone on here is guessing, I'm giving you facts. I know a few people in the field, psychologist with a Ph.D. are charging $250 for a 1 hour session.

This is no disrespect to IT guys, but IT is a totally different beast than Computer Engineering. Even Computer Science and Computer Engineering are almost entirely different except a few shared classes.

There are plenty of people who can code that can't do Algorithm Analysis and efficiency corrections. Those things include Big O analysis, which is basically all math.
