ThisBlu Ray (and HDDVD) came and went much quicker than DVD. It pretty much showed up around the same time Netflix became mainstream and Hulu was around the corner and we know which medium won out. You can actually consider DVD a very successful piece of technology. Theres tons of rare shyt out there thats only been released on DVD to this day.
Also 3DTVs was a hot thing for a mimute. So were "curved" TV. Thank god that trend is dead.
Motion capturing gaming like the Wii, Switch, Kinect, Playstation Move. All dad to VR (good).
Zip drive got replaced pretty quick by sd cards. Remember those?
Id say dedicated GPS systems like Karmins went out relative quickly before they became standard on cell phones and cars themselves.
Pocket digital cameras were all the rage until cell phone cams quickly caught up.

I worked at an electronic store in high school.
HD DVD is the answer. People would buy one, then would come back 2 months later to buy a blu ray, then would find out about torrents 3 months later
People spent bread on plasmas and then LCDs came out with no glare. Then LED came and crushed the buildings
And idk why this one hits so hard to me but those Verizon Chocolate slide up phones were hot for like 3 weeks
