The game gear is another black sheep of the sega lineup that shouldge been more successful. It had a great library, made gameboy look like a joke hardware wise. It even had a working TV tuner at one point. The Nomad wasnt so bad either.

the nomad was cool...my boy had one...the battery life was ass...but watching TV on the game gear was some next shyt :wow:...the TV tuner drained the hell outta the battery

:wow:Mans know whats real. Sega was so ahead of its time, gamers were legit playing stickball in the streets.

Lmao I only know cus I was there. I was reading the magazines. I remember the hype. I remember the launches. I remember the moves the companoes wasaking to sell their console and I remember exactly what worked and what tanked. I learned a lot about the harsh reality of corporate business and marketing from watch Sega's rise and huse fall from grace.

That last year of the Dreamcast was just painful. Remember walking into EB Games, Funcoland, Gamestop or whatever, asking if they had a Dreamcast game, and store employees would literally laugh in your face like if you were crazy "you know PS2 is coming out right :russ:?"

Man...to see them go from a beloved household name to a complete joke in the eyes of consumers in just under ten years was sad. Sega is a case study of a massive company that destroyed their own trust with consumers.

An HTML web browser? That's dope!

And a chat?
shyt must have felt futuristic at the time. Did you feel let down by the PS1/PS2/GC?

What a shame about Sega. If only their house was in order. The Saturn was trying to do some good shyt - but it was unfocused.

I despised Sony as a rival to Sega at the time. The only Playstation games truthfully that made me really want one was Tekken, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania. Otherwise I stuck with Sega and don't regret it, though, again, it was painful watching them fall flat. I truly believe the Saturn has aged better than Playstation. What the system did offer that was quality is the HEIGHT of 32 bit gaming. Period. There is nothing like DecAthlete, Panzer Dragoon, Dragon Force or Sega Rally with that level of video processing (some running at 60fps) and that level of CD quality audio on the Playstation or the Nintendo 64.

By the time the PS2 came out and destroyed Dreamcast, I refused to jump over. I was still playing Dreamcast games well into 2002 when everyone else had moved on. The PS2s launch was pathetic despite the stupid amounts of hype leading to it. Those initial games were horrid, did not live up to any of the hype, and looked and played terrible next to games like Resident Evil Code Veronica, Skies of Arcadia, Jet Grind Radio, Shen-fukking-Mue, Phantasy Star Online, Crazy Taxi and a bevy of innovative stuff Sega just threw at fans as they headed out the door in 2000/2001. It was both sad and at the same time such a memorable part of my childhood. I eventually jumped over to Xbox. I don't really play video games too much no more though. Last console I bought was an Xbox 360. I feel like the way the industry works now with exclusive games becoming almost a thing of the pass that owning these consoles (besides Nintendo) is just a waste of space, I have a decked out custom gaming PC with a wireless controller to keep me happy nowadays.
