first time we see marlo.. avon already been knocked for years.. stringer couldn't even get good dope... and BEFORE THE COOP... this nikka was having marketing meetings with a bunch of dummies, going to college, and working real estate

avon kept telling him not to ignore the street... not to let those corners go.. THIS nikka WILLLINGLY GAVE THEM UP!! twice... to prop joe and to marlo.. just let them nikkas operate

avon comes home on some "what the fukk you doing nikka" and immediately goes to war.. but he still got dummies from stringer.. avon brought in slim, mouzone and cutty... he knew what to do.. stringer was fukking up with them same hitters.. telling slim to hit a senator.. getting omar and mouzone beefin

avon got hit once at the telly when chris caught them creeping... next thing you know he had eyes on marlo, marlo didn't have his people with him, and avon got like 10-15 nikkas with autos, grenades, vests and some more shyt.. on the way to marlo when....


stringers snitching ass ways got them all hemmed up..

marlo would have been done... but then in the end.. he still had to come get at avon to get to the connect... shyt avon could have told prop joe.. but he kept it westside and sold it to him

But Joe already had the connect, Avon having the connect implied that along the way like Marlo, he went behind Stringer and Joe's back to get the connect, most likely as collateral if Mouzone fukked up his out of state rep as he said he might do................Avon was that nikka.........

D "snitched", but at the end of the day killing him served no purpose other than to fukk up Avon's focus so String could operate his shady dealings. A didn't know shyt String was doing, how the fukk would D know? They changed the whole operation after they got knocked. D wasn't privy to any new information.

As for the thread i think 1 word is why the Barksdale crew fell apart and Marlo crew survived for the most part. The word is , trust

From season 1 the writers of the wire continued to show how stringer and avon had issues trusting eachother opinions and strategy which ultimately had avon losing in the streets and stringer losing in the business. Both of them would have played they part and trusted eachother on what they were great at, instead of both of them trying to get the other to be more like them, they would have gotten through the war with Marlo and ran baltimore. But because they both only saw they own way as the only way didn't trust eachother it ultimately led to they demise

Marlo crew didn't have conflict in direction and goals. Chris and Marlo trusted eachother and had 1 goal in mind. They never conflicted. I think that last scene with them both in jail was the 1st we ever seen Marlo even scream on Chris. And unlike avon and stringer whenever Chris had a strategy in war, Marlo acquiesced to Chris cause he respected his military mind and vice versa with Marlo as Chris respected how Marlo handled the drug side of things. So because they were so strong at the top they crew followed accordingly.

It's not about trust. It's about wanting to be that nikka. Avon was that nikka. String was that nikka too. You can't have two bosses. Marlo was the boss. But he listened to Chris and the other old head dude. Chris and Snoop were happy being soldiers.

Joe guarded his operations like his left nut, never once did you see Stringer with the Greek and such, Stringer was scared he was gonna get cut out the package......But like a natural businessman Avon went behind Joe's back and got the connect at one point in time, like Marlo later did............ pay attention.......


SN:Had Stringer not snitched after Marlo got murked Joe would have been next...........................He knew the Prop Joe package was the cause of all his issues.......

the fact that avon had to go to the streets himself was the biggest indication that he was weak at the time.

season 1 avon didnt touch a gun or the streets. he was heavily shielded by stringer weebay stinkum and bird. you add slim to that mix and marlo gets ran out of b more easily.

i do always wonder why avon didnt put bro moozone or however he spell his name on omar tho. if you got that kind of muscle why not use it for omar and yall still focus on business? guess thats how they wrote it.

Dope thread, always love a good Wire discussion.

Corner was dope too, lotta actors are the same (Daniels is a junkie, Lester, Norman, Sydnor, Prop Joe, Landsman, Orlando, Day-Day and some others are in it). shyt is only 5 or 6 episodes too so it's easy to binge on. Super depressing show though, even more so than Wire was.

Hit me up for piff if you ain't never seen this classic show.

Only watched the Corner a few weeks ago, crazy depressing.

As poignant as The Wire is.
