People didn’t want to see Magneto & Professor X, what?? They are the two most critical characters of the movie, along with Mystique which I’ll concede wasn’t great overall but she was better done in dofp than the other X-men movies she starred in. It also starred Logan who pushes the entire plot along.

I don’t get how you can praise eternals in one post and then shyt on DOFP in another. I watched both this past week and they aren’t on the same level. I mean critic and audience response nearly universally agreed
:mjlol:WAIT THIS DUDE PRAISED
ETERNALS BUT SHTTED

I thought Eternals was better:yeshrug:

And yes, nikkas don't want to see the whole movie center on Magneto and Xavier

Being critical does not equal focus the whole fukking movie on them at the expense of everyone else, which they did

Well spiderman is and always will be #1 for marvel. That is beside the point.

the X-Men were by far the most successful property in comics in the 90s. The best selling comic of all time is this
X-Men1-cover.jpg

1991

everyone cares about X-men as a unit...the reason why the series DIED a slow death was the decision to focus on the wrong individuals (mystique, and that wet blanket jean grey performance), and never getting to the cyclops and storm led xmen blue and gold teams and the lineup above, and from the animated series.

fox VALUED the xmen property over the avengers and others when marvel was broke asf. Nobody gave a shyt about the Avengers until the movies. Your entire take on the x-men is erroneous breh

I had that comic :wow::wow::wow:

Well obviously people did want a movie focused on them, based on the movies success, the critical/audience response and how beloved Mcavoy & Fassbender were in those roles after First Class wiped away the stench that was X3. Eternals was boring and shyt, it really disqualifies any argument on DOFP. Agree to disagree but nearly all critics/general public agree with me so :yeshrug:

I'm going to be that guy for a minute. We all loved being kids in the 90s when the cartoons and video games were hot, and I get that the 90s were foundational for bringing in the current fandom.

...but cats really need to put more respect on the 80s Claremont run. The 60s material didn't age well, but the late 70s through the 80s were goated. That was the era that laid the foundation for a lot of the most iconic stuff from the cartoons and movies.

The Dark Phoenix Saga dropped in 1980.
Days of Future Past blew up like Shalamar in '81.
God Loves Man Kills (the story X2 was based on) came out in '82.
Wolverine in Japan? All of that happened around '82-83.
The Demon Bear saga with the New Mutants? '84.
Angel becoming Archangel? '86 through '87.

A lot of cats quote the early 90s as the golden age (and I'll give AoA it's props), but most of the really hot stories took place in the 1980s IMO.

I still think they can just make magneto age slower so he looks in his 30’s by present day but still experienced the holocaust
His powers were growing slowly the entire time and he trains it by killing evil humans
He meets Charles around the 70’s-80’s and they have a fallout in the 2000’s
Charles helps amplify his power and now magneto wants to kill human

So all mutants have base level powers that they all share such as slowed down aging and durability like all the supes do on The Boyz? :jbhmm::ehh:

The perfect answer for the Magneto Holocaust issue is to make the character a black man who survived the racist South in the 60s/70s.

They should definitely show more mutants that do not look normal and lean into the discrimination that mutants face. Do not make it so superhero-y. The 90s cartoon gave the blueprint
