What is it about “Laffy Taffy” that is so offensive to hiphop heads?

this was the shyt they (BET/Viacom) were pedaling around the time Little Brother was deemed “too intelligent” for the network

So while there may be no direct link tying to two together, its not too difficult to draw a parallel

There was a clear agenda in place to dumb down their content in general

Little Brother ethered their own careers. I get what they were doing and I'm sure the networks got what they were doing. Where they failed at was signing to a major and dropping an album that was anti everything that was mainstream except soul sampling. Then they cried foul when mainstream outlets didn't play their music.

There was no agenda against intelligent music. An artist can be intelligent with their artistry and still sell and get airplay. As someone mentioned earlier, Lupe (who was on the same label) got play in the midst of the ringtone and snap era. Breh, even parodied mainstream in lyrical, conceptual way with "Dumb It Down".

I still say Little Brother hustled backwards. They dropped their most anti mainstream album on a mainstream label and expected to reap the benefits of being on a mainstream. Then they dropped their most mainstream album, Left Back, on an indy.

Some stuff is wack

I've accepted that I'm the weird one cause I can hear the wackness in alot of stuff people enjoy

Wackness is really loud to me. Uncomfortable. I definitely avoid it. But when people are unable to hear the wackness and they play the song on purpose it hurts a little

Where was the same energy for MC Hammer, Vanilla ICE, Heavy D

Unless you want to say this record was being played during a time where hiphop heads had a big voice during peak rap forum era in the mid 00s
Are u dumb? Them nikkas got clowned to oblivion. Lol. And them nikkas dont even belong in the same sentence as Heavy D. U constantly prove u dont know shyt about what u be talkin bout

Laffy Taffy put om Shawty Lo

:snoop: nikka do u even know Heavy D’s music? Dude was a dope emcee. Dope producer. And NEVER made anything as corny as Laffy Taffy. A VERY versatile artist. Even Biggie took some of his rap style. Heavy D has classic timeless records and produced plenty of classic timeless records. He’s absolutely a fukking PIONEER in this hip hop shyt u stupid disrespectful muthafukka.

And shyt atleast Chicken Noodle Soup was done by a fukkin CHILD and the beat was indefinitely better than Laffy Taffy. And this aint even against D4L cause I fukked wit “I Betcha Cant Do It Like Me” heavy.

That nikka flopped so hard after that track and I remember this clearly because he tried to come back REALLY rapping and copped pleas talkin about how that song wasnt really him as a rapper. Still noone took him serious cause he jumped out the gate wit that bullshyt. I wish nikkas would stop talkin bout what was goin on in my city when they not from here.
