None whatsoever

I don't know how the thread went much further than this post.

Kurt Cobain had absolutely no influence on hip hop music and culture back then, but I see his influence everywhere now in regards to nikkas being comfortable portraying themselves as suicidal dope fiends.

Teen Spirit was a cool record back then, that's probably the record Onyx was referring to, but it didn't influence a damn thing.

Its the same as Lil Uzi Vert claiming Marilyn Manson and GG Allin as his biggest influences. These rappers think they are special by shytting on thei OG's and claiming another culture (Punk, emo, w/e) that they actually don't know shyt about as their own.

"I'm a big fan of Kurt Cobain," I put a picture of him holding a gun on my Instagram for his birthday. He's definitely one of my favorite rock artists. 'Heart-shaped Box' is my shyt. It was something different about him because he had a very challenged voice. They made a whole new movement—the indie rock, the grunge. He was like an amazing artist, man" - Prodigy of Mobb Deep

"When Nirvana hit, you had black kids into hip-hop watching MTV for alternative videos, getting into Red Hot Chili Peppers," Talib Kweli told a Spin writer, in seeking to explain Nirvana's broad appeal. "Then Ice-T came out with Body Count. I think all that set the stage for Nirvana. And Nevermind was a damn near perfect album, like Bob Marley's Talkin' Blues or John Coltrane's A Love Supreme."

All after he blew his brains out. Find quotes before or right after. Of course after he'd been propped up as an icon for over a decade artists will speak glowingly about him like they've been down. Same shyt with white ppl when it comes to 2pac and Bob Marley. Or shyt to take it deeper MLK.

So if I find quotes from artists from other genres saying nice things about listening or watching hip hop artists that equates to influence? By the way no self respecting black man should be going this hard trying to prove the influence of some cowardly cac. If he he never existed that changes nothing in hip hop.

I would say more often than not, the most influential artists of any medium don't become that way to well after their time has passed. You talking about look up the definition of influence yet it seems like you don't really understand how it works in context.

If rappers who are fans of Nirvana jump start and bolster sub-genre's of rap based off his influence, reference him, sample him, make tributes and covers of their songs I'd say their influence goes a bit beyond "zero".

This is idiocy.

Nirvana has much more influence on my generation (and subsequently this one) than fukking Dukes of Hazzard, even with Daisy being an og "thot" and having a hit song that references her. A rapper named Kirko Bangz in the era of Lil Wayne clones who want to be rock stars, he is one of the most well known and identified with rock stars in the Hip Hop community and has a lot of parallels to 2pac in the sense of his perceived genius and early demise. Grunge music caught the attention of Hip Hop heads in a way that is impossible to say that he had 0 influence on Hip Hop.
the same dude whose real name is kirk and he makes music that bangs? :ohhh: yea, dude was like kurt cobain!!!! so puns on other famous names means there's an influence in the music? half the rappers take names from some other facet of pop culture

Not just in hip hop, but I'd say Nirvana just had influence within a generation of music overall. With hip hop, I say that you could see it in spurts but not every artist is taking on the influence from Kurt Cobain. Just like any other classic artists who are iconic. Some of it is because there are some pretty trendy weirdos trying to fit in and some of it is because these guys generally like the music that Nirvana made in their prime.

Why address the pun and not the fact that the progenitor of the current wave of 'rock star' rappers is clearly influenced MUSICALLY by Nirvana? If there is rock influenced rap being made, where did the template come from? Who is your favorite rappers favorite rock star?

Nirvana influenced Hip Hop , Ive heard it all. I guess Michael Mcdonald did too because he's been sampled and made some dope songs black ppl listen to. Bob James influenced Hip Hop, without him Hip Hop MIGHT be different. Nirvana not existing has no bearing on the culture. It changes nothing.

Shredded jeans is the hip hop fashon trend of the moment.

The influence is undeniable.

Hip Hop culture and music in the past 2 years is way closer to Rock than it is to Rap.
