The propaganda and misinformation on this thread is too much. If you're not Nigerian and don't know the history of country, it's always better to stay out of the topic. The problem of Nigeria is deeper than religion, Igbo vs. Fulani (I don't know why everyone keeps saying 'hausa', when the Fulanis are the ruling class of the North and they're the problematic ones), evil vs. bad, etc. And Igbos aren't saints, they're just as culpable as whoever they're pointing the fingers at.

1). There wouldn't have been a Nigeria, without the Igbos forcing the issue. Prior to independence, at the pre-independence conference in London, Yorubas never wanted Nigeria and they believe they're a nation on their own and wanted to be alone. The Hausa/Fulani were sceptical about Nigeria and being in the same country with Christian especially Igbos. Only the Igbos were pushing for Nigeria and they colluded with the Hausa/Fulani and voted 2-1 against the Yorubas - to form Nigeria. Yorubas also wanted an opt-out clause at the pre-independence conference and they also voted against that.

2). Igbos were the first to plan a coup in Nigeria, killing the leaders of all the other ethnic groups, while leaving their own leaders alive. And that was the reason for the first civil war, when the Fulanis retaliated and went on a killing spree of Igbos.

3). Igbos don't own the resources in Southern Nigeria. Most of the resources belong to minority groups in the South.

If Igbos want out, it's a good thing since Nigeria shouldn't have been a country in the first place. But they're the architects of their own misfortunes and they have to rally all Igbos to subscribe to it and then push for it. Not a case of some Igbos wanting Nigeria and the rest clamoring to stay in the same country. Igbos created Nigeria and they should fight their way out of what they signed up for when the rest were vehemently against it.

This is from an Igbo elite:

So, Igbos got everyone else in this mess in the first place.

:ohhh:

Stop it breh :mjlol:

This is bordering on hate speech at this point :laff:

Why can't Africans ever have nuanced debates? :francis:

How is that video hate speech? It actually happened.
:mindblown:
Fulanis have vowed to ethnically cleanse parts of Nigeria.

Why are you sympathizing with genocidal maniacs which have killed thousands of people over the past 2 years?

Seeing these comments by other Nigerians its a no wonder why Igbos hate Nigeria and dislike the other ethnic groups and wanna split.

You're buying this "everybody oppresses us" schtick? :comeon:

If I know one thing it's to always remain sceptical when it comes to tribal politics.

I'd be just as sceptical if it was Yorubas or Fulanis making a one-sided argument by the way. I'm neutral.

Got nothing against Igbo ppl :hubie:

@Bonk is a Black white supremacist. He literally in here saying, well Sheriff Clarke said this about Black people. He's Black like you are Black. He don't want nothing of value for Blacks when you have everything you need.

Breh I don't care about Fulanis or Hausa. I know very little about Nigerian politics (except for Boko Haram which I've looked into).

I just know better than to reach conclusion based on some selective material (YouTube videos, articles etc) from someone who is biased. It's like expecting a Somali to accurately depict Ethiopians :francis:

All I'm saying is that we're getting a certain narrative from you guys and that those of us who are outsiders need to be a bit more sceptical until we hear from all sides :hubie:

@MansaMusa would you risk another civil war if it came down to it?

Igbos are not the ones bringing civil war. All we want is to vote on whether or not to stay in Nigeria. Similar to what other democracies do (UK, Canada). If the Nigerian state attempts to kill us, then we are more than justified in our attempts to leave Nigeria and to defend ourselves.

Our intention is not civil war, but if that what occurs - that is not our fault.

Perhaps that answers your question.

Lol everyone doesn't oppress igbos. Igbos are very well liked across nigeria. FACT

There are a good amount of igbos who are in yoruba places, other non igbo parts of the Niger delta. active in politics and business.

Out of all tribes in nigeria I would probably say igbos are doing well.

It's only politically having less number of states, and suspicion from the north after civil war for presidency.

The everyday nigerian has uncles and aunts who are igbo atleast 1 family member who is igbo. I don't know not one person that doesn't have an Igbo family member. They travel the most and thus their children outside Igboland adopt the culture of their hosts and intermarry alot.

Nnamdi Kanu also was protesting for nigeria to remain ONE back in 2012, when the northerners wanted to break up cause our president is Christian and ijaw- possibly with igbo blood.

All the less it's a blame game, nigeria could break up I don't care. When a southern president is in office the north cries foul, when a northern president is in office the south cries foul.

But atleast when a southern president was in office.
The economy as growing.

Here he is protesting with obvious nigerian flags in the background sowing for peace and one nigeria.

The agitation of Biafra, Niger delta republic didn't grow until It was clear there is a cabal that will frustrate anything a Mr Jonathan does.

Understandable but fact is facts.
