There are a lot of lies in your post. Not surprising.
1 - Awolowo and others such as Fela Kuti's mother were in London too pushing for an independent Nigeria. In fact, the centre of Nigerian nationalism/independence movement was in Lagos. Stop lying.
2 - The first coup was not an "Igbo coup". Patrick 'Kaduna' Nzeogwu saw himself as a Nigerian nationalist. Not an Igbo nationalist. He was born in the North and didn't speak Igbo. Hence the nickname, 'Kaduna'. Michael Okpara, premier of the Eastern Region, narrowly escaped assassination in the January Coup of 1966. It wasn't an Igbo plot. Stop lying.
3 - Igboland has coal, natural gas and oil. Yes, oil!. There's oil in Northern Delta state (which is predominatly Igbo - I'm from there), Imo, Abia and Ebonyi. Again, stop lying.
Igbos didn't create Nigeria. The British did.
Where are the lies? You're a propagandist and you're being economical with the truth. Do you believe anyone with functioning brain cells would believe everything you posted on this thread that Igbos, a group with almost 40 million people, is being bullied/killed by another group with almost same people, for no reason and Igbos are as clean as snow? Unless Igbos are weaklings, the narrative is incredulous. There's a reason why I also quoted an Igbo elite and not anyone from the other groups.
1). Yes, I never denied the fact that Yorubas were the first to push for independence and the independent movement was started by Yorubas. Also, the anti-colonial movement in Africa was started by two Yorubas, Ladipo Solanke and Herbert Bankole-Bright, in 1925, with the WASU project (read about it here:
History of WASU - The WASU Project). However, Yorubas were also pushing for an independent Yoruba country and not the colonial Nigerian arrangement, hence Yorubas under Awolowo voted against colonial Nigerian set-up - while Igbos, under Azikwe voted with Fulanis for Nigeria. These are facts and when I've time, I'll post the colonial documents and audios of Awolowo, Azikwe, and Bello.
2). Stop lying: Nzeogwu joined the coup towards the end and the only reason he gained notoriety is because he was the one who killed Ahmadu Bello, the leader of the Fulanis, who was viewed as a demi-god by Fulanis. The coup's mastermind was Azikwe's cousin, Emeka Ifeajuna, and it was sponsored by Ojukwu's father.
How can you even argue that it wasn't an Igbo coup when 99% of the coup plotters were Igbos and all those killed were the leaders of all the other ethnic groups. But miraculously, no Igbo leader was killed. Where they do that at? Those killed in the coup: Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh (Urhobo), Brigadier Maimalari (Fulani), Abubakar Balewa (Fulani), Ahmadu Bello (Fulani), Col. Kur Mohammed (Fulani), Col. Shodeinde (Yoruba), Ladoke Akintola (Yoruba), Brig. Samuel Ademulegun (Yoruba), etc.
After the coup, Igbos didn't stop there, many Igbo civilians in the North were rejoicing and taunting Fulanis with pictures of Nzeogwu (Igbo) standing over the corpse of Ahmadu Bello, who was a demi-god to Fulanis. So, it wan't shocking that they went on a killing spree of Igbos.
Also, the way the highest ranking Yoruba officer, Brig. Samuel Ademulegun, and his pregnant wife were killed has to be the most barbaric thing ever done to a pregnant woman. After killing the both of them - they sliced open the pregnant belly of his wife and also killed the unborn seed. Igbos are lucky Yorubas didn't go on a killing spree of Igbos after that.
3). I was alluding to the resources Nigeria gets most of its FOREX from. Yes, Igbos have tiny drops of oil and some non-viable resources, just as Yorubas have tiny drops of oil in Ondo/Lagos and non-viable resources like gold, bitumen, and limestone. However, the bulk of Nigeria's oil comes for Delta South, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom. And none of the enclaves are Igbo. Delta South is Itsekiri, Ijaw, and Urhobo/Isoko. Bayelsa is Ijaw. Rivers is Ijaw, Ogoni, and a host of other minorities. Akwa Ibom is Ibibio, Annang, and other minorities.
Igbos had the opportunity to opt out of Nigeria in 1957, at the London conference, with the Yorubas. However, they voted with the Fulanis against Yorubas. And even when Yorubas asked for an opt out clause - Igbos again voted against that. So, you voted for what Nigeria became and you can't wake up and tell people you want to leave the mess you voted for, and expect them to follow you. You've to fight your way out of it.
