What happened to Rock is slowly happening to Rap. You are seeing the beginning of Rap no longer being the dominant genre in music

Blues, House, Jazz, Soul, and R&B probably will comeback, because they never really left. It's just that rap and hip-hop overshadowed them for awhile.

Funk, Soul, and R&B were interchangeable back in the day, especially Soul and R&B. And Funk was the Rock and Roll of Soul. Soul was just Black music, and every Black age group listened to the same sounds for the most part. That's probably what we will be going back to, hopefully. A lot of rap was a spinoff of Soul, R&B, and Funk. They used a lot of it, beginning with Funk. And the originators of Funk, like George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelics, never got paid. The Funkadelics weren't into who had copyrights, etc... They were more concerned with making sounds for the people. A lot of rap used R&B too. I'm sure everybody is aware of that, for example Kanye, Jayzee, etc...
And the genres people in here are saying"is are taking over" all borrow heavily from rap and hip hop culture-Afrobeats,spanish music etc

so its like wtf:pachaha:

Let Afrobeats and Latin music take over

We get back to lab and take House music and RnB and soul and funk back and create some new, modern stylish music

Maybe repurpose drill stylings for something that ain’t about killing nikkas the whole song

Sounds like another generation is just aging out. They're about to come to the same realization that US Gen X'ers had once we got to 30+. The music ain't for you anymore and you're probably moving up in your Job/Careers and starting families and hearing "fukk bytches get money kill nikkas its funny" might not really appeal to you anymore. Just stick with YOUR classics and it'll never really die. Or expand your ears and move on its really that simple.

So Rap is dead because of the charts (which isnt true) but Afrobeats is taking over despite not taking over the charts and usually having a rapper as a feature when a song does crossover :pachaha:

This forum is bizarro world.

Raps biggest problem is its best talent all got killed or arrested. The next generation of rappers avoiding this will be essential.

That might’ve been true in 2016.

There hasn’t been a genuine superstar hip hop artist in at least 6 years that’s still alive. Lil Baby almost had it then released a dud album. Gunna had it then snitched on his crew. Thug never transcended like that but he might be done legally. Drugs messed Kodak up. Meg don’t sell records. Dababy done. Pop Smoke dead. Juicewrld dead. Xxx dead.

The only new gen doing it right are Tyler, Uzi and Travis. And they all debuted close to 10 years ago. Maybe a lil later for Uzi.

I was out recently at a young nikka party. They boo’d theDj when he played modern rap. They just wanted Afrobeats.

In my age bracket it’s throwbacks, Afrobeats and amapiano

And I was at a "young nikka party" this past weekend and only heard rap and rnb. Funny how that works.

Unless I'm in a lounge with bottle service, I never hear it either.

Look at the charts and these anecdotal Coli stories about a takeover dont add up either.
