I'm black

But a lot of these "conscious" artists sound like they know something ...until they say some bullshyt and actual topical experts have to address the lie or misunderstanding.

I really dont need these types of conscious artists because I go through all the effort of reading, learning, and reassessing these topics. These artists dont, especially the young ones who clearly dont have the background to speak on a lot of things beyond superficial statements and insights.

Its only black audiences that require athletes or entertainers in their 20s to speak for them
Quite the modest person, I see :mjlol:

Being “woke” and all that is wack and corny now apparently, an insult to someone is saying they’re one of those “woke” people.

That said, I’m sure they’re still out there, you just gotta do a little searching, which shouldn’t be that difficult, everything’s a few clicks away. Rap is a youth genre, what youths you know really wanna hear about geopolitics and systemic racism and proxy conflicts for real? Being stupid is cool to them…but yeah, little searching will get you right if you’re really tryna find some..

A lot of those movements themselves from rap and black culture, to anti capitalist/leftist lost momentum overall, somewhere around 10 years ago, is my best guess?

During the Obama admin years, think kind of culled a lot of movements, some for good reason, and a lot of people who wanted to critique traditional activist things, were either marginalized for attacking Obama's admin, or believed more change was possible through the admin, or just didn't want to be against the pubic opinion.

Whether any of that is right or wrong, I can't say. I am truly not much much of a conscious listener myself, I have read Malcom X, Baldwin, I read more than I listen. My true ideology probably goes closer to Pac, Jay, Nas, than any more concsious rapper than that. Never really listened to Mos Def, or Talib, still don't really listen to Kendrick, doesn't mean I ignored it or hate it, just you will see me playing Yo Gotti 9/10 before Kendrick.

Away from myself, social media numbing everybody out. Social media making activism into a brand of self righteousness/virtue signaling and moral outrage, and not actually doing anything but posting on Twitter or liking memes. The collapsed context of social media makes everything performative, ironic, and a joke, therefore not important.

Wu-Tang, Common, Mos Def, Lupe, Talib Kweli, even Kendrick all got off their conscious tip for some reason.

Wu-Tang especially used to make conscious bangers like Impossible, A Better Tomorrow, Tearz, All That I Got is You etc etc.

No more man,.....that stuff is few and far between nowadays.

Ghost's verse on Impossible is still on some next level shyt to this day.

They dissolved because most of them were bullshyttin anyway

When Kendrick was damn near a Black Panther during TPAB era and the heat got too hot and he said fukk all this shyt is when it really died off:mjlol:

Mr Morale is full of Kendrick anger over being elevated into a spot he screamed to be in

1. Cats these days don't have any knowledge of self so what makes u think that they are gonna bang against the system but they'll bang against a anotha brotha though for something so frivolous and mundane.

2. They wanna get their money with "them folks" and making that type of music may make them feel uncomfortable. Ironically, Dead Prez had a lot of hippies at their shows.

Honestly, it would be nice to have a Umar Johnson/Khalid Muhammad on the mic that isn't afraid of stepping on toes.

I wonder what Immortal Technique has to say about what's going on now.
