And the entire Earth is called a masjid in the Qur'an meaning a place of prayer/prostration. if that were the case the Qur'an wouldn't touch on the subjects of treaties and trade with non muslims but it does..

The Qur'an like the old testament comes with instructions on how to govern so a legal/social structure is inevitable. As long as there are Qur'ans and Hafiz's protecting them this isn't going anywhere..

However we have yet to see a "true Islamic gov't" non Muslims are supposed to be protected equally under the law as long as they pay there taxes like we do.

That would be nice.

There is no agreement when it comes to limiting free speech. I feel the Supreme Court has limited enough already.

Plenty of people have said or demonstrated opinions which anger me and I haven't responded with violence since I was an immature teenager. Stop trying to justify injuring or killing over words, pictures and ideas.
But has someone constantly tried to push the same exact button to invoke some violence out of you since you were a teenager?

im not trying to justify violence breh, i'm trying to balance the blame scale. Just like homie said, people are actively trying to invoke a response by negative, crude, and disrespectful pictures of a highly revered person. what possible outcome would anybody hope to achieve in these acts other than to instigate violence, national draw muhammad day.. The violence that would result from a national burn a bible day, or national call a black person a a nygger day? But im supposed to say "oh, i live in a post racial society. they must be trying to compliment me and my beliefs :shake:"

If if were more along the lines of they tried to illustrate the rasul in a positive light, and by honest mistake, muslims would be more obliged to resolve the matter peacefully. Honest mistakes are forgivable, intentional disrespect, not so much.

Im not advocating violence but people reap the benefits of their own actions. This isn't utopia. people are going to say foolish things and according to their intentions, they should be punished accordingly, hopefully in ways that dont include violence. unfortunately for muslims, no one is going to hold any any instigators accountable for their lack of apathy whether muslims take a peaceful approach or violent one. Lose:hula:Lose

Muslims who immigrate to the west and expect Islam to be treated as sacred are delusional, and westerners who seek to anger muslims by mocking them in the most disrespectful way possible are asking for it. How hard of concept is this to understand?

Drawing a picture of Muhammad in a cartoon in a newspaper that isn't even circulated in Muslim countries that they don't have to read or see is mocking them in the most disrespectful way possible?

It's deeper than that though. Muslims have historicially seen their countries be pillaged by the west and then to top it all off they see their religions being disrespected. Are their reactions right? No, but to cheer-lead poking a hornets nest is absurd.

I actually agreed with you about when those Christian idiots were in that Muslim neighborhood yelling on megaphones and holding picket signs. They got what they had coming because they were up in their personal space acting all hostile and interrupting their lives. Nobody should have to stand for that.

But cartoons in a newspaper is an entirely different animal. That is not posing a threat or disruption to anyone's life. You have to live in your neighborhood and live your life and you have the right to do that freely. You don't have to read a certain book, or open a certain newspaper, or click on a certain website. So I think just saying don't mock or make fun of or critique Islam at all, even though it is an instrumental force in the world and should be open to the full palette of emotional and intellectual critique whether academic or satiric or what have you because Muslims might kill you is the metaphorical conforming of life in the global village to suit the global village idiot.

Also, I don't buy the claim that this is due to frayed emotion over oppression from the west. The reason being you see this same hyper-sensitive violent reaction from Muslim authorities and peoples in Muslim nations whenever one of their own citizens supposedly disrespects Islam. There's plenty of cases of Muslims in Muslim nations being sentenced to death due to making some offhand comment about Muhammad or Islam. This ultrasensitive violent reaction seems to be part of the character of organized Islam today.

Islam is a backward, fukked up religion. Anyone arguing otherwise is retarded.

They treat women like shyt and kill "infidels" for the most careless slights. They are wreaking havoc all over Africa as we speak! Its clear the zealots are running the show because the so called "moderates" are doing very little to stem the tide of insanity emanating from these more dedicated followers...

I understand the concept of not tolerating disrespect and not letting people walk all over you. If someone is up in your personal vicinity threatening you or showing hostility toward you you may have to handle that.

But we're talking about fukking cartoons man! Unless someone is sticking pictures of Muhammad on your kids' bedroom windows or greeting you as you leave your house with them, fukk do you care for? Just don't read the newspaper with the cartoon.

Maaan youre approaching this shiit as an outsider with logic, some
Fukk face in Islamabad isnt trying to hear that shiit

Its about logic vs emotions. Muslims in the west for the most part gave the cartoons a smh and a shrug at the cartoonists

Back home muthafukaz are ignorant. Keep fuking with an ignorant person an try kicking logic to him after

I think most of us understand the commonsense part of why insulting Mohammad can lead to getting killed, but it is still not justifiable. Someone can say whatever he wants about any of my beliefs - literally anything - and shout it from the rooftops, and I wouldn't think its justified to assault/kill him.
