And I'm part AA and have AA family members especially from country ass North Carolina who most of yall wouldn't understand if they spoke.:heh: Yes, they eat rice A LOT. I grew up eating rice. One of my relatives from SC cooks a shyt load of rice. I agree AAs aren't rice OBSESSED like Caribbeans but saying AAs don't eat a lot of rice is false especially to someone with Carolinian roots in his family. If anything it depends on the state/
Well to your point AAs are very diverse. Shows in their foods and their music. AAs from NY and AAs from AL or LA are so far apart based on how you look at it it's almost like another culture so i understand certain general statements wont apply everywhere. But same thing among haitians. As tiny Haiti is (roughly 28,000 sq/km) Haitians from the North (Au-Cap, Gonaives, etc) are also different from Haitians from the South (Au-Cayes, Jeremy, Aquin, etc). If someone was to hang around haitians from Au-Cap you'd swear haitians put cashews in every fukking they cook. Meanwhile you wont find a trace of it (cashews) in Southern haitian foods.
True Caribbean people eat rice more than MF. I actually at this point can’t eat all the rice that Jamaicans put in there food lol

Yeah it's rather unhealthy when it comes to diabetes and diseases like that

Woda Maya has a video up of a town called Dahomey in the country of Suriname, literally named after the Dahomey (Benin) in West Africa.

“No Entry For White People In This Mysterious Suriname Village (Dahomey)”

“Dahomey, not current day Benin but Suriname of South America, is a town occupied by the Maroons. Maroons are enslaved Africans who ran away from the plantations they were assigned to work on. It was a matter of life and death in the plantation due to the inhuman treatment they received by their masters. They took a chance and ran into the jungle settling in the inlands, the village of Dahomey, where no white person is allowed. Interestingly, they were unaware of the Dahomey of Benin....”

The black people of Suriname or Haiti
Yah haiti is definitely heavy. But you got crazy pockets elsewhere in the west. In America , those Gullah Geechee islands come to mind.

In Latin America, black people in colombia's Choco province have basically been left to their own devices once slavery ended. They got very little cultural connection to the rest of Colombia because of a huge rainforest between them and the population centers . And of course racism

Any place where they still speak African languages.

So, Cuba and Brazil.

Cuba: Lucumi (Yoruba), Habla Congo (Kikongo)
Brazil: Calunga (Kimbundu, Umbundu, Kikongo), Yoruba

It has to be Suriname, it has the most African languages in that sense.

Winti is the only Diasporic ATR that didn’t syncretize with Christianity and remained fully African.

Plus where all other Diaspora ATRs have 1 African ritual language, Winti has 3.

1. Akan-based
2. Gbe-based
3. KiKongo-based.
