And I do watch the anime I stopped when luffy busted out the Thor move on cone head so I could binge watch that arc when the anime is done with the dress rosa arc

I read that the series is set in an alternate universe. Does that mean all the previous Gundam series' were set in the same universe? Like the events in every new series happened after the previous series ended?
