And Netflix didn’t skimp on the animation?
Time for Taro to shine
I am really intrigued to what TMS can do. Staff looks solid, but this is a hard manga to adapt compared to other jump series like JJK, CSM, Kaiju 8, etc because of how well done the manga is. Like between the art, paneling and choreography is top-notch. It's like the blueprint is already there and if the anime can even match the manga that would be a huge W.
S1 could adapt up to chapter 55 right before the
JCC Transfer Exam Arc. From that point onward the series could just be played out as movies from then on and imo it would work well. Personally I want the movie level animation to do the manga justice.
Hopefully S1 pops off and doesn't suffer a fate similar to Yozakura Family where marketing is nonexistent. (Which is actually a really good jump series. And would say it is great if you love the action comedy, which is the foundation of the series) Though if Sakamoto Days ends up Netflix that should be good since they have done a solid job with marketing Dungeon Meshi.
12 episodes and likely a year or more break isn't what's needed to build momentum.
It's impossible to keep momentum for a biweekly series that has a VERY slow pace to it. Like if it was 2 cours it might not have material for another season in quite a few years.
The mangaka is milking the series shamelessly
