In other words no. This explanation is bland, namedropping of better characters aside. Like Ichigo's "regularness" isn't written to be endearing or played off of like Saitama ignoring monsters to shop discount groceries. Its just evidence of a protagonist that wasnt given much thought beyond the design.
Like forreal this flowery juelzing could easily apply to any fantasy protagonist "yeah he's just a cool guy who fights for his friends n stuff." What about this is unique or compelling? What about this screams "Ichigo" beyond the picture? For example
-A regular boy who idolizes a superhero and dreams of saving people like he does despite being talentless, then is suddenly given the chance to be his protege.
-A boy who looks up to the freedom of pirates because of a man who lost his arm saving his life sets out on a journey to find a legendary treasure and the title that belonged to the most powerful man in the world.
-A regular guy who has become so strong he's become a superhero out of boredom and is now having an identity crisis.
-A regular teenage punk with no value for his own life dies saving a kid & is given a second lease on life to hunt spirits and find his place in the world.
-A boy on a journey who single mindedly seeks to meet his father who is at the top of the most dangerous profession to find out what about the job was so fun that he abandoned his son.
-A boy shunned in his village because of a curse who then aims to be their leader to redeem himself.
-A martial artist from an alien race who defends the earth simply to satisfy his urge to challenge himself.
A regular guy who got a sword and now fights for his friends
Some people get it, some people don't. You asked a question, I explained my answer, end of. Definitely not here to try and change your mind.
