Fugishiro is the golden boy in a powerful clan. With that came a life of strictness and high expectations, expected to be a living avatar of his clan's duty. He's expected to put his life on the line saving everyone, even if its people he detests like criminals. He hates this idea, especially since good people like Tsumiki dont get saved and sees the JJ world as unfair.
When yuji is brought into JJH the consensus among all was to that Yuji needed to be killed for the good of humanity. However he got to know Yuji and realized he was a good person. Though he realizes the world would be safer with Yuji dead, he'll imperil himself (in that fight you posted) and the world to save him.
The pages you posted is the contrast in his and Yuji's philosophy. Yuji WANTS to save everyone to the point its become a pathology/burden. Fugi is a cynic and calls it his "selfish desire" to act on his own justice and save the people he wants to save (Yuji) no matter how wrong it is.
I honestly fukk with that. If I had superpowers tomorrow I would save sexy women and One Piece fans only, just look at the rest of yall like
