Problem with one piece is that they try to stretch a 15 page manga into a half an hour show and it shows. They should just take 6 month breaks every year and let the manga build up to be honest. The same happen with HxH toward the last arc as they ope the writer would pick up the manga again

I'd say the Hunter x Hunter anime at the moment is probably better than the One Piece anime is at the moment, due to the fact that they stretch out the OP anime so much. Right now the anime is in the middle of the Dressrosa Arc (the one with DoFlamingo as the villain) and the arc isn't even finished in the manga yet. So they're doing one chapter per episode.
As far as the actual manga I'd still say One Piece is better.
Hunter X Hunter manga is good too but it doesn't really have any overarching story or goal for the characters to pursue like One Piece does, and doesn't have as many epic (from an emotional standpoint) moments. The fights are really good tho.
