I was pretty damn sure of that too until i saw that tag. not trying to figure out what they consider romantic about it.

I did catch violet evergarden when it aired and liked it a lot. kuroko is pretty good so that should hold me for a bit. not sure why i waited so long.

here's a question though - what are the good Macross entries other than Plus and DYRL? Watched both last year and thought they were great. But not sure where else to go from there. typing "Macross" in MAL gives you a dozen different results and I don't really trust their scores much.

Ace of Diamond is something I'm looking forward to down the line. I think its the next show after Kuroko.

Come to think of it, I've never seen a bad sports anime. So I figure I should be running into a bunch of hits.

That's another one I need to get too. Sounds like something I'd be interested in and It gets compared to Utena a lot.
Geez.... when it comes to Macross, I'll admit I'm a fan of the good, the bad, and the fukking weird.

Macross Plus, OG, and DYRL are obviously the classics. After that its a mixed bag. Macross Frontier is basically the Gundam Seed of Macross. Take that how you will. I enjoyed it but its hard to recommend. Macross Delta is just.... well. It grows on you. From being trash to somewhat decent. The Black Clover of Macross? Maybe that works.

Macross 7 is weird as fukk. Its monster of the week, with the most ridiculous and absurd protag ever, on a crazy premise that's somehow a direct sequel to DYRL. The first dozen episodes were garbage. Utter trash. Its also one of my favorite shows ever because of how fukking stupid it is like when the main character is asked to help save the colony and the a$$hole says fukk YAL and starts shredding his giant guitar in his giant robot. If Macross had a Sailor Moon mixed with G Gundam, this is it. The good and the bad of both.

Edit: Forgot to mention the little stuff. Macross Flashblack 2012 can be found on youtube. There's only like 10 minutes of "original" animation, but its godlike and shows what happens immediately following DYRL. Minmay's harlot ass lost :russ:

it's my favorite genre when done right. and since the shows are usually one cour previews of manga there isn't as much of a time investment.

but i'm gonna have to make an audible to the sports genre after seeing scenes of elfen lied i'd repressed from memory

so its Kuroko no Basket

People sleep on Romance anime, there’s some real good 1s out there

When I started watching romance anime I couldn’t even watch nothing else, seen at least 10 in a row before I watched something different

A Villa Straylight.
So finally got around to finishing IBO

I thought the first season was really good stuff, but kinda falls a bit flat in the 2nd season, even though still had high points. I do think looking back there truly was no need to incorporate gundams into the show or the poltical angle Gundam series have.

I know its a running joke in here, but why is it so hated?
The ending is shyt. Absolute shyt. It didn't need to be a Gundam show like you said. It seemed tacked on.

Yeah I just finished IBO too.

Conflicted about the ending. Storytelling wise it was well done. You could see the buildup of why Orga, Mika, and McGinnis had to die.

But if you're a viewer who've invested in the main characters, it sucked not seeing the payoff of those guys winning in the end.

Reminded me of Code Geass in how the protagonist had to die for his ideals to be realized.

Pinky's abilities seem more suitable for the LoV, I mean, coming at motherfukkers with acid seems unheroic. Not like her break dancing abilities are going to come in handy unless she turned into Eddy Gordo.

Strictly a Rescue type I suppose, to be used on inanimate objects or clearing rubble.

IBO had some really high points and some devastating dry spells. For weeks you'll be wondering wtf is the point of the earth detachment - then you get some classic shyt like Orga calling up his old rival with a "I just hit you up to let you beg for your life real quick :ehh:..... not impressed :wow:"
