Essential What Anime are you currently watching?

man, some of you are really about that anime-watching life. i tend to dislike watching anime and given a choice i'd probably forgo the anime in favor of the manga (if its available). right now i'm currently reading inuyasha. i'm only a casual fan of anime/manga, but manga i've enjoyed in the past were Monster, Hunter X Hunter & Death Note. Got any recommendations? I'm trying to get into them more.

Also anybody ever watched Appleseed (both the original and the reboot?). There's a re-reboot coming out this summer which I'm really excited for.

What's some more of your favorites/style? New school or old school?

I've seen the original & have Appleseed Ex Machina on hd dvd which was ok.

my style inclinations: i prefer anime that's not juvenile. it has to have a deep, engrossing storyline (i.e. eden of the east or cowboy bebop). most important of all it can't be too long. i'm the type that goes all in. it's either i watch something or i don't watch something. being like this typically turns me off from long ass animes as i don't want to expend the energy and time. cowboy bebop had a piff storyline, was moderately sized and i think there was only one episode out of the 24 that i didn't like at all (i.e. the one where there was some sort of monster lurking in the ship).

as for old school vs new school ... umm i don't think i've watched enough anime to form an opinion. but i'll venture a tentative 'new school' regardless. techincally, the newer anime are beautiful to watch. the animation is just gorgeous. some old animes hurt to watch, especially those ones that haven't been remastered yet.

btw, is anybody here a yuyu hakusho fan? i've been hearing great things about it, but i haven't given it a try yet. once i'm done reading inuyasha (& akira) i'm thinking of giving it a try (either reading it or watching it). can somebody give me their thoughts on the series without spoiling anything too much??

Hitsugi no Chaika has a pedigree I can't ignore. From the original writer of Scrapped Princess and the studio (Bones) that animated it and the same director that directed it. Just off the strength of that I'm down.

First ep was solid ....outta the new anime's I've peeped, jojo (not new but it's a different jojo every time so it kinda is), black bullet, blade & soul and hitsugi are the best IMO....akuma no riddle is interesting but I'm always left empty after watching it, it might even get the bushes soon and that gokukoku show is decent...I miss kuroko tho

my nikkas i just finished watching the first part of naruto (up to the valley fight, not gonna roll with the filler) and im wondering should i just jump into part or get into one piece? ive watched up to the first battle with captain buggy of op ( it's like 500 mo episodes yall) so im really early but i was thinking if i watch one piece from here on out by the time im done with shippuden will be damn near finished right? also ive never read the mangas so idk what the fukk is going on outside of what ive seen.... shyt i have watched in its entirety

I don't know what's worse about this No Game No Life shyt. The fact they're doing panty shots/fanservice of an 11 year old girl, or the fact that people online actually defend that shyt saying that one of the show's genres is Ecchi so there shouldn't be complaining about the fact they are showing panty shots of an 11 year old. I guess I'm one of the few who doesn't feel 'serviced' seeing a young girl's panties on some pedo shyt that isn't as much suspect as it is proven and guilty.

the younger chick talks kinda weird but seems like the show will have decent action so i'm down.

of all the new shows i've watched i like Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei the best.
