The replies to me was....
I give 0 fukks...
yeah, you brehs are still mentally ill.
The white boyfriend was in the movie for maybe 10 minutes, tops. She even forgot about dude after her friend was shot.
The reach is strong with you idiots.
There is something supremely problematic about this film but it went over your heads because you are easily distracted.
it wasn't shoehorned into the film, it was in the book. She also went to a wealthy private school. I think only her and brother were the only black kids in that school. We're the one's mentally ill for noticing the bait and switch with shoehorning white love interests in a supposed "Black" film about police brutality... you claim your so smart then what do YOU think was problematic about this film???

Shhh...don't say that...they'll come for youthat agenda is real. every movie shows a girl of a different race dating or married to a white guy these days
The end result: more self hate and viewing white men as the pinnacle
Here's a quick summary:
It ended with the cops almost shooting her little brother with a gun in his hand, while he was aiming it at the man who was walking up about to kill their father. She jumps in front of her brother, he drops the gun, and the cops don't shoot. That was the climax of the movie. I just didn't dig them using an example of the shooting of innocent Tamir Rice, who actually was killed for having a toy gun, in two seconds at that, to make it seem like sometimes a cop have no choice but to kill a Black child.
Then after almost just losing her little brother, she announced to the crowd that It wasn't "The Hate U Give", but it's "The Hate We Give". So everybody is all emotional, and seeing her point. But I called it BS. My mind went back to "74, when Oscar Brown made "Lone Ranger", and kept saying "What You Mean We White Man?". Like now we're suppose to forget this all stems from White Supremacy, which lead to police brutality against Blacks in the first place. She nearly sounded like Donald Trump blaming the KKK and the protesters, after that girl was killed.
After all this went down, the family decided they weren't going to leave the hood like they had planned too. Then they showed scenes, including her kissing her White Boyfriend in the mouth. The end.
So her mother was suppose to had transferred her to a White privileged school outside the hood, because that's what her mother (who was the girls grandmother) did with her when she was in high school. But her mother wounds up with a Black Panther, however she wounds up with a White Boy looking like Wally from "Leave it to Beaver". Sho You Right.
This movie was loaded with subliminal messages.
wait till you see what movie project issa rae just signed on toothat agenda is real. every movie shows a girl of a different race dating or married to a white guy these days

The love story was literally not a big deal if you saw the movie.
And going further, what agenda is this you all are speaking of? Black women are only above Native American woman in American society. They are not desirable at all to the mainstream. What agenda are you all even talking about?
Of course it’s going to get nominated. Whites love movies like this. God forbid a movie portraying black people living well gets any nominations or critical acclaimjust came back from seein it.....this one of the best movies i've seen this year...i loved it....so much honesty when it came to black matters vs white privilege vs self hate.....
