Instead of being fake outraged about something that isn't and never was racist, judging it prematurely and hoping for a NOD gimmick (which would've been completely stupid),, how about giving it a chance. I swear wrestling fans do nothing but hate on something without letting it play out for a while. 3 guys who are black and having fun are stereotypical, but you guys would've wanted 3 of them being anger and recycling a `17 year old gimmick.
For once a youtube comment that isn't asinine
TNA is pulling it off pretty well with MVP, Lashley and Kenny King. The fact that all three are black is not even a consideration. They are just the #1 heel faction in the company. In all fairness though, is there really any way you can group together 3 black wrestlers without them somehow playing off that they're all black?
Theyre humans too ya knowIn all fairness though, is there really any way you can group together 3 black wrestlers without them somehow playing off that they're all black?
That is a completey asinine statement. and honestly anyone who can't understand why fans are bothered by this New Day stuff without jumping to the standard "you guys just wanted a militant NOD redux" are being disingenuous.
Having three black wrestlers running around with big ass cheesy smiles on their faces and dancing around like happy morons is a stupid gimmick. Why couldn't they be a group like The Shield was and be formidable serious badasses? They don't need to be militant but it would be nice if they were made to look like fools either.

SureBut I think his comment was directed more so towards people who are bytching way too much about the gimmick as opposed to people being overly bleak about the stable's future success. Realize though that this is a midcard stable/tag team, the ceiling for them is the tag team championship, because that's where they're at on the card.
And they're trying to have bigger things go down on SD, so I don't really see them debuting on SD as a knock. Besides, it's a smart thing to debut new gimmicks or midcarders on Smackdown anyways, that way you can tweak accordingly if the crowd didn't react a certain way, and not have them be potentially crushed from the get-go by a dead crowd on live TV.

Sure
The same way the four horsemen had white guys come together and weren't playing off that they're all white
Same with DX, Fortune, raven's flock, job squad and so on
I don't watch TNA so I don't know what they're doing with the group but let me ask you this
1. Do they come out to a hip-hop/jive/soul theme?
2. Do they use ebonics/urban slang in their promos
If the answer is yes, then they are playing off that they're black and are further perpetuating stereotypes to some degree. And isn't the stable name MLK?
