The OP's thread title is disingenuous, because he has a out played agenda. He stated we really need strong, intellectually, healthy black men for the youth.

You know what? That's a fine topic, where you can have posters discuss and link positive, uplifting people doing better and succeeding in fields outside of entertainment and athletics (Chamillionare a fantastic example being an entertainer with his hands in the tech world) which could even lead to networking and putting our feet to the ground.

But Instead, it's just another age old "Society sucks, everyone is dumb, except MEEE!!!!" adage that one could chalk up to an over inflated ego.

And who said I automatically believed them in the first place? I've posted other sources (that you obviously didn't read) that don't support his claims that it's because of hip-hop black youth are doing everything abusing drugs and performing blood sacrifices.

It's funny how you bring up how "I don't go outside" yet the only rebuttal you have is your anecdotal evidence of people around your way. Which is why, I used the term myopic.

I'll leave you with this, I've wiped my hands no longer entertaining this self-loathing hysteria under the guise of intellectual discourse.

Powerful posting, calling dude out for his sanctimonious stance, I didn't even catch it at first.

The strongest, healthiest black leaders for the youth are the ones right next to them.

You don't have to be the coolest dude on the block, in the city, or on the planet in order to connect with these kids. You just have to find a way to connect, do some cool shyt with them, and then be a consistent presence in their lives. :yeshrug:

Kids talk and think about the stuff people close to them do.

Dudes over here blaming media because it absolves them of any responsibility.

And @HankHill is right in a few aspects.
This hasn't solely affected or originated in the Black community.
Its actually been largely White kids, Black kids are still tied with Asian kids in terms of likelihood to try drugs other than marijuana.
Lean is the most significant of the issues, and you can thank A$AP Rocky for truly popularising that drug outside of the South.
White kids use that heavily too, along with Molly/Percocets/Oxycotin/Heroin.
We have a growing community of young, Black intellectualism, but its wrapped up in the "party, sex, drugs," imagery that largely comes from White media and is directed at 15-25 year-olds.
The drug use is insane on college campuses, and it doesn't get any better.
Its also not just national, but international, go to Spain, they have coke absolutely everywhere.
Positive role model propaganda would be helpful, but its not enough.

J. Cole, Jay Electronica, Joey Bada$$, Brother Ali, Common, OG Maco, and quite a few others. :yeshrug:
Its not an entirely lost cause, the music is there.

Its there but tell me in your own opinion why do u think "positive-themed" music doesnt get NEARLY the same platform that destructive music gets. The main thing yall stay saying about the music u listed is "look for it". But tell me why i dont have to look for music promoting drug use, gang activity, promiscuity and extreme materialism? And ill ask u the same question i just asked the dude who called me a "c00n": do u believe in "media propaganda" as a real tool of systemic oppression or do u brush it off as "conspiracy fantasy"?

The word you used that i liked the most is "ridicule". I often have this scenario in my head where a big-time, famous comedian with alot of influence starts clowning rappers. Clowns how they dress, clowns how they rap about killing members of their own community, clowns how these 40 year old rappers act half their age. Pretty soon EVERYBODY starts clowning rappers. Their lines about killing blacks and glorifying being a drug dealer/drug addict trends worldwide on Twitter. Rappers literally become laughingstocks to the world. It becomes NOT cool to want to be a trap or drill type rapper and being an upstanding, educated person with morals starts to become the "it: thing.

I wish:mjcry:

Word, ridiculing people who do evil will force them to change their ways. Imagine the likes of Future, Meek Mill, and other ratchet dudes get deprived of p*ssy and money and actually be forced to step their priorities up? :banderas:

Why do yall keep bringing up white people? :mindblown:They have PLENTY of positive images and examples to aspire to be. And nobody is blaming rap SOLELY for shyt. We have an example in this very thread of a poster being affected directly cuz of the hiphop culture. Do yall think out of the millions upon millions of youth influenced by the culture of hiphop that he's the only one? Toxic hiphop culture is gas on top of a raging fire. The sad thing is how we ourselves dismiss it as "just entertainment". Its mental poison.

You are so unaware that its not funny. Its "just entertainment" rite? Look deeper than the surface. Its about the continued demonization of the black race. They've been doing it for 100's of years except now they have US demonizing ourselves. We call OURSELVES ******s, thugs and savages. Think about it and get back with me. Its faaaar from "just entertainment". Its a weapon of white supremacy. Go read on "media propaganda"

Funny thing is, people used to say the same thing about jazz.

Here we are many decades later making the same racist arguments against our own people.

They dont get it. They just see individual success and never look at the community as a whole.

Eh. We get it and just don't agree with your sanctimonious stance. Again, the streets are realer than real, music got little to do with what kids in Baltimore and Newark are exposed to.

Y'all nikkas act like 60's/70's New York, Newark, Chicago, Baltimore, and St. Louis didn't exist. Dudes listening to Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield while doing the same 'ish they doing now.

Back then they had choices at least when it came to musical choice as to whether it will be about drugs and such or more uplifting songs.

Kids had a chance to peak into a world more than just bad influences.

Nowadays variety is a thing of the past and is shrinking everyday so that excuse you giving isnt working anymore.
