I think the eagles were set to draft carson college back up in the 5th rd, i forget his name but when the chargers took him..i think howie panicked and drafted this fukkin scrub

His name is Easton Stick.

That's exactly what I think happened. Lurie already said that the Eagles want to be drafting a QB every couple years or so, so they came into the draft with the intention of finding one in the later rounds. They guys they wanted were off the board, so they reached and took Thorson.

Dude out here making these plays and we stuck with ClayBum

All that back up QB concern is meh to me. Let's be honest, Even if Sudfeld is there and without Foles, this season is in the tank if Wentz goes down for the year or misses an extensive stretch.

But how y all think Josh Sweat did?

I only watched the first half and focused only on him and wasn't really impressed. I saw no pressures really from him or other eye popping moves on the Titans starting LT when he was out there.

I hope he improves, he may be stepping into that important Chris Long role spelling Graham. I heard Sweat has a high ceiling and he bulked up too. I was expecting much more from him especially against the backup Titans tackles.

The Hall guy on the other side looked good last night tho. Dont know his upside.

Bruh im worried because we’ve seen this movie before. If wentz has to come out of any game this year I don’t think any of us wanna see Thorson or Kessler.

Sweat struggled against the 1s. Still don’t know if he’s ready. He has two rush moves that I saw. One armed bull rush and a spin move.

Just saying breh, we put all our chips into the Wentz wagon and this team will go as he goes this season. Foles was a luxury that we had that most teams dont have. Now we like every other team hoping our starting QB survives.:manny:

The Patriots season is fukked if Brady goes down. Packers is if Rodgers goes down, Seahawks is if Wilson goes down, Chiefs is if Mahomes goes down.

Yea, I saw that with Sweat, it was mostly the bull rush I saw. And he was getting no traction with that especially against the Titans starting left tackle:scust: I thought he had more of a pass rushing repertoire than that.

Absolutely, you gotta remember Nick's jersey was in the HOF before he ever took a snap for the 2017 Eagles (the 7 TD game in 2013). He's the ultimate heat check QB and an anomaly as far as being the backup. It's like if Lamar goes down and RG3 catches lightning in a bottle for a month, there's very few backups who have that kind of ceiling.

The reality of the backup QB is you just want a guy who can hold the fort down and not completely ruin your season if your starter can't go for a month. Anything longer than that and 95% of teams are fukked regardless.

We don't sign Kaep for this reason, The Whole Eric Reid/Jenkins beef. Kaep supported Reid when dude was trying to shyt on Jenk. Now I don't doubt Jenkins couldnt be the bigger man and squash it for the team but the Eagles Front Office probably doesn't want the Locker Room to be put in that situation

If Wentz can't survive the first 4 games, or we can't survive the first 4 just as a group that is supposed to be ultra talented and as deep as they come. We don't deserve the hype in the first place.

As for Josh Sweat, here is a little blurb from BGN about him ICYMI.

I liked a lot of what Josh Sweat did in this game, but I’m gonna keep him here in the dunnos, to stave off the hecklers who think I’m showing favoritism in this critical column. Sweat struggled to generate much pass rush juice against Taylor Lewan — of course, one of the best left tackles in the game. But he was active in pursuit, powerful on the bull rush, and beat the drums off the second-teamers. I still think he’s a better project than Hall, but it’s a good problem to have.

Not great but certainly not bad. Going up against one of the best is great practice obviously. If he had won at all, I would have been shocked to my core. I don't expect him to break out like that. But I do expect production. If he can provide us 3-4 sacks, good run defense and enough positive snaps to give gym shorts confidence in resting guys regularly throughout the game. I'd say its a great season for his 2nd year. Anything more is just another luxury for this stacked ass team.
