no it didn't. :scust:

it made $18 million in 5 days and is only a $30 million budget.

But the money dropped huge from Wednesday to Sunday meaning it probably won't have legs. 30 million production budget is cool but doesn't take into account the marketing budget which had to be kinda big since they been advertising the hell out of this thing

so what is the general consensus why its not doing bigger numbers? I loved it, and the show has a huge following, is it too late? or is it cause the cast hasn't done anything since, with the exception or Piven and Turtle?

Does the show have a huge following? I'm not being a jerk by asking either that's a genuine question because i figure if it did have a huge following or at least as huge as Sex and the city since someone mentioned that as an earlier comparison, we wouldn't be having this discussion. HBO never releases numbers for their shows as far as ratings go so all we have is word of mouth but if that word of mouth comes from just people in your inner circle, how can you tell?

My belief? It's a niche show with a niche audience and a lot of them kinda aged out of it. My best friend was a huge fan when we were in college but he said once he graduated and now that we're 7 years removed from college, the show's appeal died off for him; that male fantasy of being in hollywood with women at your beckon and not a care in the world and no drama ever just doesn't resonate with him anymore. He said he feels like that's the fantasy of an 18-21 year old..maybe 22, but once you move on from that, get your career going, start thinking about a house and kids and a wife, shyt changes. Of course that's his take, I can't speak for it cause I'm not a fan, just observing.

I think if the show was truly that big of a hit and had that big of an audience, then it wouldn't have been so hard to get this movie made to begin with which it was. The studio would've instantly given it the green light rather than dragging their feet on it like they did and of course the numbers would've been there. Either the fanbase has dwindled over the 4 years the show has been off the air, or some people felt like my other boy: He doesn't want to see it on the strength of how he felt about the last season. He's got no desire to sit through it.

I think the other thing for Sex and the city, aside from being huge culturally, is the fact that at that time and even now, women don't get that many movies aimed specifically to them. So they came out but then again sex and the city 2 wasn't as big domestically as it was internationally so even then, the audience in the U.S. seemed to have said they had their full, they were ready to move on. So maybe the group that Entourage appealed to is just ready to move on too

First off, that completely answered my question and I think the answer is one of if not a combination of all the reasons you listed... :salute:

one of the First times I have got an answer that was completely logical and unbiased.. like I don't even want to state my opinion cause I don't want to argue lol, shyt I might lose...

but seriously you hit it on the head damn, did you even watch the show, just asking...

But even I felt that way, a major appeal to that show to me was being 20-25 in Hollywood with my boys living it up. I don't care for any of that now, :mindblown: it was cool to me seeing these young dudes running around town doing shyt I would do if given that situation.. but now I don't desire that type of lifestyle and as we seen in season 6-8 them growing up isn't as entertaining.
I can even say at times during the movie, I thought to myself, these nikkas too old to be this stupid and reckless.. damn however I will never out grow Ari, that type dude is needed In the world, he gets shyt done..

oh and I don't know how popular it really was, cause some love it some don't care for it

I just have a vision of all of them sitting in a car on some :sadcam: like the bizarro version of 'In The Valley' episode with the Aquaman opening day.

Kevin Connolly: We're up to 180 :ehh:

Adrian Grenier: 180 Million :gladbron:

Kevin Connolly: No. $180. :francis:

Dillon and Ferrara: :mjcry:

I watched it occasionally trying to get into it but it never appealed to me. I think the main thing for me was just the fact that there was no real drama; you knew in the end it'd always workout and that kind bored me. Not saying I'm cynical, I'm really an optimist and i like happy endings, but seeing four guys be douchebags around hollywood and everything always working out for them in spite of their douchebaggery just didn't resonate with me.

But I can see where you and my homie are coming from: You kinda age out of that shyt. How you explained that was how i felt about watching dumb and dumber to: Why in the hell am I watching these 40 or 50 year old men act this stupid. It's not funny anymore, it's kinda sad

It flopped. There will be no sequel. I'm a huge critic of the some things in the show but the movie was solid. It was number 4 at the box office after 2 day lead. Spy and Pitch Perfect crushed the buildings . This should have been on HBO not in the theater.

See I never saw them as "douchbags" maybe I am one too:patrice: but seriously they were basically kids running around Hollywood with millions and the GOAT agent that kept them working, and I believe everyone on the show was casted to be 20-25 with E being almost 30 well drama was old but we all have that family member who is 40 going on 22.. But yea I loved the movie, but at the same time didn't feel the way I would have 5 years ago, and I think their audience is in the same boat as me....

I while watching was so caught up in it, I didn't realize that they ALWAYS won, I looked at is as them finding a way through the bs because people liked them :snoop: how young and naïve I was

douchebags was tough lol..I love Ari and I do like all of the characters in general, I was just feeling like using that word. But yeah it always works out. I don't know if that's good for a movie. But on the real, it was always going to appeal to fans of the show while non fans would probably be put off or just ambivalent. I read a review on Collider from a guy who admitted he's a fan of the show and he basically did two reviews: one as a huge fan of the show and another as a film critic

Idk why it's being called a flop. With that 30 million budget it'll turn a profit once the international and DVD sales are added to it. If anything Spy which made 30 million only made half it's budget back this weekend.
