I don’t think he was ready

Mariota forced their hand but the organization was trying to tell everyone that Ridder wasn’t ready to be the full time starting QB any sooner than coming out of the BYE to play at NO
He sucks if we are being honest. His player type is a game manager at the NFL level. He's very good at game managing but that's pretty much it. We could have drafted Purdy who's excellent at game managing and he went last in the 7th round. I know we drafted Ridder because he was supposed to be this blend of Mariota and Matt Ryan but all he's been is a poor's man blend of Matt Ryan as he got no elusiveness and he's too weak where he can't break tackles. We basically got a dollar general version of Matt Ryan and that sucks. Even washed Ryan is better. We could have got Purdy in the 7th and it would have been better. Ridder and Malik Willis have been disappointments for me.

Of course the ATL
A few notes for the offseason:

-Falcons will play a last place schedule for ‘23
-Falcons will either pick 8th or 9th (probably 8th)
-Falcons will have $70 million to play with in the offseason to complete the rebuild with the salary cap expected to go up

Despite another 7-10 season there are some pieces to build off of

-Allgeier is solidly our #1 back, we should be set at RB with CP, Avery Johnson
-Drake and Kyle Pitts are two solid WR options (Pitts is a WR to me), still need someone to stretch the field as a #2 WR
-OL needs to upgrade at C and LG
-Ridder is going to start the season but we need to do everything in our power to either draft or bring in a competent QB who can challenge for QB1

On defense:

-Have to get a DE (or 2) who can get to the QB, to me this is the top priority for the offseason
-Need an impact player with the LBs, Troy Andersen is a bust in the making and Mychal Walker is just ok to me.
-Secondary is solid with AJ and Casey. Safeties are hit or miss with Richie Grant but I thought he had some nice moments this season. Not overly concerned with the secondary but we need to add depth

Coaching:

-Dean Pees needs to go…defense has not worked in the 2 seasons he’s been here. Time to find a scheme that can get us to the QB
-Arthur, he’s kept the team competitive despite a bare bones roster. Needs to stop worrying about the media and figure out how to make this offense better and more dynamic in the passing game. I know the QBs have been dismal but it’s his job to coach em up

Falcons are a few key pieces away from being good enough to win this division next season (Brady might step away from TB after the season, CAR & NO are mediocre)

if Ridder is the uncontested starter next year, we won't win anymore than 6, maybe 7 games and Arthur Smith will be fired

I think yall being a little bit too hard on Ridder.....I view Ridder as an above average NFL QB.

He only played 4 games this season with no real deep threat at WR and went 2-2. The reason I compared Ridder to Rus Wilson is
they're both mobile QB's that were drafted in the third round, the thing is Rus lucked up in playing behind the greatest defense of the last decade.

I'd say take a look at N'Keal Harry (Hes great in run blocking) or Darius Slayton in FA

Let Keith Smith walk (I just don't like dude)

Sign a vet QB (As a back up)

Draft either Tyree Wilson or Jalen Carter.

Look for a vet at outside line backer and DT.

As far as C and LG goes I gotta look a lil deeper into that.

Bro is ass. He was literally 44%, 25 yards, 1 TD, 1 awful fumble when Tampa had their starters playing. Nothing about him screams good backup much less above average QB. Are some of you nikkas blind? Seriously.

This nikka PFF grade is literally a 47.8. That's pathetic. Troy Andersen level. I don't know what it is ya'll nikkas is watching. He fukking sucks

Bro above average tho? :dwillhuh:

He did his damage vs TB against backups, like I said he’s a solid backup but he had two fumbles in back to back weeks where the ball literally just fell out of his hands, he’s Mr. Checkdown and not super accurate. Maybe he improves slightly but his ceiling isn’t that high

The Russ comparison doesn’t make sense outside of them both being black QBs drafted in the 3rd round

Every rookie QB can't be.

Matt Ryan
Ben Rapistberger
Dan Marino

By all means be hard on Ridder next season. We only got 4 games to judge him off of, in a sense you can't evaluate a NFL player just off four games.
