you guys dont get it though, if technology is going to scale down the economy naturally, and there is no escaping that, what kind of society are we supposed to have where only a few people can realistically have jobs? presumably thats true for the whole world as well. are we just going to be a planet of ghettos and pockets of wealthy neighborhoods?

I have a MPH, been working in the field for 10+ years and it still difficult for me to get a senior management position.

We're hiring kids with BAs straight out of Harvard and MIT to do Patient Coordination work which generally requires a high school diploma. There's more people overqualified for the positions that are out there which in effect are raising the standards.

People with degrees working in Target, Walmart, and even McDonalds. And I presume things are only going to get worse

...i have noticed my orders at McDonalds don't get fuked up quite so often adn those burgers have been exceptionally well made :smugfavre:

supply and demand.
Increase in degree holders
Decrease in Jobs

If you have a degree you should be able to do the simple math.

Bide your time, even get in at a shyt position while you can to get "some" experience, even if you're just a shift leader at a sonic or something. When things get better there will be work and your experience will be what sets you appart.

Plus what the fuk else you gonna do right now, you gotta still eat, might as well make the most of it right?

I only read the first page but I hope someone at least mentioned that the unemployment rate for college graduates is at a very low 4 percent. You probably won't get the job of your dreams but you can find an ok job if you look hard enough and in extreme cases are willing to move.

True, although that's the unemployment rate for ALL college grads, including people that graduated decades ago. If you look at the unemployment rate of people who graduated recently (in the last 5-6 years or so) the stats are much worse.

Also, the unemployment rate doesn't count people working in retail or as waiters, and it doesn't count people who only work part-time. So that can be kind of misleadingly low.

I would like to see the unemployment rates of recent graduates broken down by gender. I'm pretty sure women are doing much better. Young male graduates now a days are pretty cowardly, not willing to take risks and get dirty. Case in point. I have two friends, one male and one female, who graduated with degrees in computer science from a small town in Wisconsin. One decided to move out to Florida and look for jobs and is working now. The other decided to stay and still lives with his mother at home - unemployed. I'm disgusted at the weakness and sense of entitlement of males today. I see it all the time when I'm on leave and some of whom include my friends.

there has indeed been a pussification of males in our society. I thought we'd made headway after that whole "80's debacle" of a decade, but here we are again with shyt like this...

I will say this and this is only in the big cities from what i have seen, whites use the social media better than us at getting good jobs, i also think they having parents who have some money that supplements their early income until they have that great job helps them allot. I have seen that first hand and yes they do get the pick of the better jobs, when my company folded i was the last to get a job, all the whites who worked in department got better jobs and in some cases way better positions, i run a division of current company and a former co-worker does the exact same thing i do and yet she makes over 100k, same job to a T but she gets a huge bump in pay. The other thing i see is people saying they taking retail jobs and fast food jobs which are almost always career killers for blacks, you really can't put those jobs on a resume and the longer you are there, the worse your real job prospects suffer.

I agree. I had to leave Miami and all that sunshine and move back to NYC just to get a decent job that wasn’t garbage..

Why do you say that?
