cause we been taught by the older generation and the system that simply going to school and getting a degree... ANY degree is an automatic meal ticket in life.

and that shyt don't get you nothing but broke and in debt with a degree.

exactly.

i was told to do well in school in order to go to college, then graduate college, specifically so i wouldnt have to be stuck working some bullshyt.

now, the same people who told me to do well and pay all that money, are telling me to get over myself and start at the bottom, where i could have started years ago, without paying any money for tuition...and by that rationale, id be further along than i am now, and have more money.

they can suck my fukkin dikk.

by continuing to cave into their bullshyt, they get more power and the problem gets worse.

id rather die broke tomorrow... shyt...today, than to live my whole life slaving off to various machiavellian fakkits, providing more profit to them just in order to keep my head above water.

it turns my whole educational background into complete :trash: and ive been getting educated and educating myself for 20 years of my 23 on the planet.

fukk that

Well it's easy to say that while the economy is in the shytter. However, when it inevitably swings back, things will be better and those with degrees will be better positioned than those who don't. The fact is, most people don't have the ability to be a entrepreneur or their own boss, although it's talked about an awful lot on here.

Easy degrees leave you vulnerable in weak economies because an employer can pay someone peanuts to do what you do because the skill is not that hard to attain.

If you have a technical skill, your employer will think twice before getting rid of you...

What does this all mean? Liberal arts/ African-American studies/ sociology degrees are all worthless....

you might also have to consider moving.

:pacspit: if you're a baby boomer

consider moving?

not only am i considering moving, but months ago i applied for dual citizenship with the EU, and i know a lot of people my age whom are capable of doing so, that are doing the same thing.

and im not unemployed, i work for a local business, as well as work on my own via my website and, additionally, give tennis lessons. don't worry about me. worry about this country, the rest of my generation, and the generations to come after us who are getting fukked over.

i tried going through the system out of college like everyone else, but it just didnt make any sense at all. 'just graduated eh, here take this commission based job :smugfavre:' 'how about this minimum wage job :smugfavre:' 'how about this 40 hr/week internship that is non paid :smugfavre:' 'you look strong you can help out in the warehouse :smugfavre:'

:rudy::comeon:

fact is, the system is broken, and saying, 'just move', is not gonna solve anything...unless its all the old people that we get rid of. :hmm:

A lot of people with degrees graduate with no real skills in their field. People need to do more to stick out from other candidates.

Well yeah we can agree with that, I honestly don't know why people select degrees like those.

Sums things up pretty well.
I'm still in a better place now than I was two years ago.
Although that's not saying a lot.
I came back from Europe a few months ago and at first felt like going straight back. At the end of the day the EU has the same problems and in some cases things are worse. I can also make a yearly average salary in most eu countries in the states in two months.

:aicmon:

Now if the Republicans come back into office in the next 8 years or things continue to shift right socially well.. I'm out

true, that generally the eu isnt much better off, if they are at all...but at least there is less market dilution and competition, specifically coming from an american's perspective.

example-

starting a hot wing business or pizzeria here = good luck, better be super on point and its gonna take years to turn a profit, in all likelihood.

starting a hot wing franchise in europe =

This is why I felt Engineering was the way to go, because its not as subjective and doesn't rely on so many intangibles.
