Dude made the mistake of trying to hire Mike Stoops as the LB coach. A lot of people feel differently about him this morning.
Yeah it seems like the backlash made him fall back from it. Sure felt like Stoops was hired as of this morning. Overall, I'm not that impressed with the defensive staff.

I like the DC and Bo Davis. I'm confused with what they are doing with the secondary since there is no designated CB coach. Hope they make a good hire for LB coach.

OU site on Stoops drama. I didn’t want him but this messed up for multiple reasons.

I can tell you Chris Del Conte and Steve Sarkisian absolutely hired Mike Stoops and the deal was done in handshake form for almost a week. You have to understand Del Conte and Stoops go way back to Arizona and I'm told Sarkisian and Stoops became close friends at Alabama. So it was a no-brainer done deal.

I was told Mike was headed out to Dallas today to meet up with Texas coaches. I was told the UT facility is currently closed so the new staff was meeting in Dallas.

Sometime after word got out, someone "above" Del Conte and Sarkisian put a stop to the hire, I don't know for certain, but you can probably guess the donors paying for Herman's buyout were not going to stand for Stoops being hired.

I don't know if Mike can go back to Alabama. As I said, I haven't spoken with him. But a source told me he turned down the DC job at North Texas to take the Texas job. And that job is no longer open.

So I know most don't care, but I have information and I thought I would share for those who do care.

Both CDC and Sark were told under no circumstances would a Mark fukking Stoops hire be acceptable when Sark got the job. Stoops is a coked up dikkhead. His players always end up hating him and coaches hate working with him. No doubt eventually he would have started undermining the DC. And yet they still tried to sneak him in as a LB coach. Had the Bama site not leaked it this would have been a even bigger clusterfukk. fukk CDC for approving that hire in the first place. They had been warned.

With all that said Sark and the DC nailed the LB coach hire which makes one wonder why in the fukk they considered Stoops to begin with.

Anybody got the info?:

HC Steve Sarkisian
Area: West Coast, wherever needed
Duties: Quarterbacks, high priorities regardless of offense/defense, skill players, staff closer
Comments: As far as head coaches go, we expect Sarkisian to be a volume recruiter and eventually a volume closer.

OC Kyle Flood
Area: East of the Mississippi, Cen-Texas (Austin to Waco)
Duties: Heavy OL positional recruiting, OL elites wherever they are
Comments: He’ll recruit nationally for OL targets, but his previous ties will come in handy for recruiting other positions as well.

TE/ST Jeff Banks
Area: I-20 corridor in DFW (Lancaster to Mansfield/Arlington), California, Arizona, wherever needed
Duties: Volume recruiter, territories and positions don’t really matter
Comments: He has a skeleton key and goes where he wants. He’s known for recruiting Texas but his four highest rated recruits are either from Arizona or Florida. Texas is loaded in 2020 so he’ll be busy in-state, but expect him to rekindle relationships he already built while at Alabama and Texas A&M.

RB Stan Drayton
Area: Northwest Houston, heavy positional recruiting
Duties: Running backs
Comments: Jaydon Blue falls in his natural territory of Klein/Cypress. Expect Drayton to spot recruit his position in-state but also nationally, especially with the expectations and hype of Bijan Robinson growing by the day.

WR Andre Coleman
Area: North of I-30 and West of 75 in DFW. This is IT Happy Hour territory. Hopefully they put Banks here.
Duties: Wide receivers and players within his territory
Comments: Expectations are that he‘ll become a quality recruiter regardless of position. This is a large, talented region chock-full of his position for him to prove the doubters wrong. I think he’ll be good.

QB AJ Milwee
Area: From western DFW to where they start to put beans in their chili, Panhandle, Wichita Falls
Duties: Quarterbacks and players within his territory
Comments: His big value add, besides connecting with quarterbacks on the chalkboard will be evaluating players in person and on film. He’ll be good in camp settings.

DC Pete Kwiatkowski
Area: West Coast, Cen-Tex (Austin and south), Coastal plains
Duties: Front-7 personnel, especially edges and linebackers; he’ll be used to sell the overall scheme to defensive recruits and will eventually excel in this area. He’ll need in-person contact for that to truly resonate.
Comments: He’s new to the region and also a coordinator, so they’ll likely keep him close to home rather than on the road as much as positional coaches, especially in-season. He has a long career finding gold out West so expect that to continue. Evaluation will be a big part of his value add.

DL Bo Davis
Area: I-45 and east in Houston, Golden Triangle, Louisiana
Duties: Defensive linemen and players within his territory
Comment: Positional recruiting for Davis will be very important, and also means he’ll spend a lot of time chasing studs outside of his territory. It’s not a coincidence there are a lot of studs traditionally in his territory.

Co-DC/LB Jeff Choate
Area: West Houston, Fort Bend, Alief, Highway 6 to Galveston
Duties: Linebacker and players within his territory
Comments: Choate had this area while at Boise State and Washington. This time he gets the home field advantage of having a favorable logo on his polo. Texas has traditionally done a poor job in this talent-rich area. The staff changes should help.

DB Blake Gideon
Area: East Texas, Cen-Tex
Duties: Defensive backs and players within his territory
Comments: The thinking is Gideon will become a quality recruiter regardless of position because of his youth and tenacity. He also has a fine story to tell, especially to underdogs. East Texas is good underdog territory.

CB Terry Joseph
Area: Eastern DFW, Northeast Texas, Louisiana
Duties: Defensive backs and players within his territory; positional recruiting regardless of territory
Comments: Along with Bo Davis, Joseph makes a formidable pairing for recruiting Louisiana at a time when LSU is on the ropes. If he can land Sark a Speedy Noil (minus the issues) there will be statues built for him. He’s off to a solid start with new offers out to priority safeties and corners. Land Terrance Brooks and Denver Harris and his first class is guaranteed to be a resounding success.

Hope it's us. I think we're the only school in the region that's in play.
There is a bit of consternation because Oregon was in his top 3 and he used their colors in the tweet, plus no one expected him to commit this early. But all indications I have is that it's us.
