Herman needs to start negative recruiting immediately against A&M. Let those possible Aggie recruits know you could've had Sumlin's job and he's not long for this world. lol

Was it still the Mill Lab in 2012? Did the AIM Reading Room become the Reliant Reading Room?

I'm pretty sure they got rid of the Mill Lab right around the time I left for more classroom space. I worked in the FERC so I spent more time there.

I never spent too much time in the AIM reading room. That place would literally put me to :snooze:

Now Reliant....that's another story. I spent many late nights there. :mjcry:

At Texas, Tom Herman could be nightmare for rival recruiters

A Big XII coach:

“I was rooting for Charlie to stick around because he’s a good guy, but also selfishly because I didn’t want to see the beast awoken again,” the Big 12 recruiter said. “We knew what we were recruiting against with Charlie Strong. With all of the uncertainly that surrounded him, it was easy for us to do damage going head-to-head against them. They weren’t going to beat anybody, but I’m afraid we’re going to get caught up in a wave of excitement that nobody will be able to stop.

“They just hit the reset button on the all of the recruiting wars in Texas.”

An SEC coach:

"If there ever was anybody that was ready to recruit at this level and under the microscope that you're under when you're the coach at Texas, it's Tom Herman,” an SEC assistant said. “He showed me when he was in Ohio State that he was not only a very good coach but a dynamite recruiter. He pulled some guys at Houston they had no business getting.

"He so charismatic and full of energy. He's going to get a lot of prospects and moms and dads fired up about the Texas program in a way that we never saw under Charlie Strong."

A Big 10 coach:

“We’re going to get steamrolled by that momentum,” he said. “…Texas already has so many advantages over every school it recruits against, other than maybe Ohio State and Alabama. But now they’re going to have all those advantages, a fired-up fan base, and high school coaches throughout the state that will likely be willing to bend over backwards to help the new guy bring the Longhorns back to the top.

“I told our coaches in a staff meeting on Monday, the best way to look at it is that no commitment is safe in Texas if the Longhorns’ new coach comes knocking on their door.”

I'm conflicted. All the news about Herman's potential assistant hires and recruiting potential has me hyped. But damn, we lost a black man as the head coach at the University of Texas. Wish it would've worked. Hate to see the possibility of Herman coming out on fire his first year with "Strong's recruits".

Hope Strong gets another head coaching gig at a major school. We need more black head coaches at major programs. Hopefully one day, we'll have another black head Coach at UT.

I have a strong feeling thats what is gonna happen, strong recruits will be one year older and that defense will be MUCH better next year.

And on the flip side if herman does not work out im not sure what texas does :francis:

Time to move on breh. Nobody was more excited than me to have Strong at UT (look at how many threads I made about him and his staff). All he had to do was beat Kansas and beat TCU at home and he would have kept his job. He couldn't do it, good bye. Charlie knows better than anyone that the last two weeks were a fireable offense. I hope the best for him and won't be surprised one bit when he succeeds elsewhere, away from these video game offenses.

Herman is coming in with a plan. You can tell he's been dreaming about this job for a long time and probably has dozens of ideas of how to improve the program top to bottom. That's why he wants to clean house - he knows first hand Belmont's strengths and weaknesses from his time as a GA. His attention to detail and TX recruiting chops really has me excited. I just hope he assembles a top of line defensive staff. Too many sophomore slumps on the D this year.

Kind of whack that Texas high school coaches now want to support UT and that Herman had been given full control over everything. Also are we now revising history that Strong couldn't recruit? Funny even rival coaches knew Strong was being pushed out the door from day one though.

1.)Kyle Allen was a 5-star talent, and was starting as a true freshman in the SEC. He got hurt his sophomore year and had a bad game while hurt, so everyone wanted Murray in there. I'd take him in a heartbeat. He's been in Herman's system for a year and would have 2 years of eligibility as a graduate Transfer. This is a no-brainer. He would allow Buechele to sit and get stronger and learn the offense while being a backup. This also allows the scenario of Ellinger redshirting and healing some. Dude got beat up something serious this year. Very curious about Heard based on Herman's QB history. Heard might actually fit his offense, but I was impressed with Heard's transition and he has the size and speed to make it in the League, so I dunno.

2.) If Allen doesn't come they need to neg recruit A&M to death and steal Stidham. In fact, I would prefer Stidham all day even if that pissed Buechele off. 3 years of eligibility.

3.) NOWWWWW these racist fukks have their check books open for assistants. We already have people coppin' pleas saying that they simply 'learned their lesson' with Strong that they need top assistants. :stopitslime:. While they got them books open we need to be after Venables, Geoff Collins or Dave Aranda. These are the dudes that are constantly stopping the spread. Please bring Oscar Giles with you. We used to always have beast D-end play when he was here.

4.) I feel like Baron Brownin has no real interesting in going to college in the state of Texas. Same with Jeffrey Okudah. But Hines is there as are Little and Wilson. Would like to see us steal Kennedy Brooks from OU.

5.) If we are really being invited to a bowl, take it. There would be about a spring football worth of practice with a new staff. I bet you would immediately see improvement even in a new system. I think we're just at that stage now. + Foreman could end up with a crazy yard total :lolbron:

Never understood the Kyle Allen hate and the caping for SB by some UT writers. His lack of size and athleticism is always going to be a detriment to his development. Meanwhile KA was nice during his first year in the SEC and he has good size and a cannon for an arm. Dealing with the Murrays can be difficult, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of drama behind the scenes that caused his play to drop off a bit. I take him in a heartbeat unless of course Stidham wants to come. Hopefully Stidham realizes that he's going to have at least 3 years stability with Herman vs Sumlin on the hottest of hot seats. Plus A&M is about to lose Garrett and two of their safeties to the NFL.
