Hey, I can eat crow, I spoke too prematurely about today's game and I deserve that...

Watson is still better and is gonna be better when it's all said and done, today's game doesn't change my mind. One has Andy Reid and one has Bill O'Brien...

Deshaun is still Young Jordan and that'll bear out over his career. Jordan didn't win his first ring until Year 8, and didn't win a ring until he had the right coach and system and supplemental pieces in place, but you knew he was a problem before then...

This is just the end of Year 3, when Deshaun has the coach and cast The League will be in trouble...
My bro, this isn't the hill to die on.

What an awful analogy.

Watson will have to pull off a miracle to overcome BOB.

Dude out here running for his life and his coach who is also the GM makes dumbass decisions, like trading D-Hop.

he ain’t leaving Houston so unless BOB gets fired this supposed rivalry between Watson and Mahomes will be really one sided.

My bro, this isn't the hill to die on.

What an awful analogy.

I don't see how yall don't see it with Watson. If they switched teams the last few years, does Deshaun have the same success with KC? What is Mahomes changing in Houston?

This is obvious to me and its astonishing more people don't get it. By the way, Dabo Swinney the one who analogized Watson to Mike first, I cant say I disagree. This is an All-Time great player in the throes of organizational dysfunction, Houston will probably limp to 8 wins this year because of it....

I hope this board is around in 5 years and someone ups this thread on how ahead of the curve I was, and this isn't even a crazy take. Its obvious that while Mahomes is probably more talented the gap is marginal, the real and glaring gap is the pieces around both from the top down....

It's hard for me to acknowledge this argument when earlier in the thread we had a discussion after the Texans defeated the Chiefs, and Watson benefitted from his defense performing better on that day, yet you chose to use it against Mahomes not having this "magic", sense of not being able to come from behind (which was deaded after his SB performance), and what you said was "not accepting any pity parties for Mahomes".

You can't just suddenly change the script now that Watson doesn't have the conditions in his favour, when you've already made it known you didn't care for Mahomes when he didn't.

Regardless, of the hypothetical you want to overlay here, the fact of that matter is, Mahomes has proven himself to be that guy, and aside from flashes here and there, Watson hasn't.

What's there to get?

Mahomes just had one of the greatest seasons in NFL history. Perhaps, Watson might etch his name in history as Mahomes has done, but there's literally nothing as of now to hold onto to believe that Watson will be greater.

First of all, the burden of proof was on Mahomes, as he went into last season having a losing record in prime time versus elite teams, it wasnt on Watson...

Last year he eliminated that doubt...

Second, we are talking one game versus the entirety of their careers. Let's do a real apples to apples, or are you denying that Mahomes:

•has the better scheme to maximize his talents?

•has the better skill players to maximize his talents?

•has the better line to protect him to maximize his talents?

•has the more proven and capable head coach?

•has the better front office that puts pieces in place around him?

Watson has shown the same leadership and stepping up in the moment, to a professional degree, that he showed in college. He's carrying a team that was offensively inept and was winning divisions on the back of being in a weak division before him. He just re-upped in Houston so my guess is either he has confidence they are gonna build a winner around him, or he and his team plan on getting O'Brian out the paint if shyt predictably goes south this year...

My argument hasn't changed and is the same as its always been!

A losing record in prime-time vs. elite teams....

Wait, what?

:dwillhuh:

What kind of arbitrary, nonsensical scale is this? Please tell me you're not being serious. How could you possibly believe that the "burden of proof" was on Mahomes last season, and not Watson, when in 2018:

Mahomes: 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns (and the MVP)
Watson: 4,000 yards and 26 touchdowns.

I'm not particularly one for surface measurements, especially in football, but the generality of them paint a better picture than the one you're using with this "a losing record in prime-time vs. elite teams" nonsense. That's wild to me that you went into last season believing that Mahomes had more to prove than Watson did.

Scheme (And Sacks) Might Be All That Separate Patrick Mahomes And Deshaun Watson

@BucciMane hard to continue arguing with overwhelming evidence that there isnt this massive gap in ability between the two. Direct quote from article:

There is strong evidence that Mahomes does benefit from a better team environment than Watson in one important way: coach Andy Reid’s genius in designing screen plays.
Everyone knows Mahomes is in a great situation and that Watson is in a bad situation.

Who's denying Reid is better than O'Brian or that Mahomes has better weapons?:dwillhuh:.

Regardless of that, Mahomes is clearly a better QB. It's not even questionable.:mjlol:.
