Tony had pull in Jersey but he knew he couldn’t pull that boss shyt in NY or the black “areas” of NJ. Dude was obviously connected and had cops on the take but was constantly ducking the feds while he was in his own damn town.
He did though, he was secretly manipulating the black members of a powerful workers union through his connections and also got a bunch of young black kids to shoot up crackhouse in a black neighborhood he was planning on gentrifying to get the current “residents” out.

That’s the genius of David Chase at work, if you notice Tony got more and more selfish and demented as the show went on in an attempt to get the viewers to turn on him, by ssn 6B Tony was such an evil degenerate prick that no one was on his side anymore.

Governor? Come on, no. And I agree Johnny Sack was PROBABLY more powerful when he was in NJ. He moved there specifically as a check on Tony.

Not to say Tony was a bum. He was very powerful. But at the same time I think back to the earlier season where AJ goes to that rich girl's house and realizes his dad isn't nearly as well off as he assumed. There's levels to that shyt.

Yeah they seem to forget just how powerful Johnny Sack was. He was the most powerful (made)man in Jersey and he was from the New York Family. Even when he moved to Jersey, Tony felt a way about because he didnt say anything to Tony and Johnny was on some :yeshrug: shyt about it because, what was Tony gonna do? They were friends and Tony benefitted from that relationship. thats why they were jovial but when Jhnny wasnt for that shyt no more, there was nothing Tony could do but be mad about something Johnny wanted to lil bro him about.
