Cosign everybody in here. Arcades were the shyt, definitely remember a few scraps at some of the ones I went to. I remember some rican beatin the shyt out of me in SF2 while he was looking away from the screen, had me like :damn: then dude put in two quarters for me just so he could do it again :sadcam: I always avoided that game if he was there. I don't think there are anymore around my way. The world is wack now :to:

My specialty was the racing games, them fat cacs used to get heated to see a youngin stylin and profilin on them. My favorite was the Wangan Midnight (with the card that saves your progress :smugdraper:), I had a 3000GT with close to 800HP flexin hard.
And any of the shooting games were a sure win under my belt (Time Crisis, House of the Dead, etc.),

I couldnt bare the loss in front of hella witnesses, I left the fighting cabinets to my brother :wow: the kid was legendary around our way.

I remember when Wonderland Mall was up, and they had a pretty dope arcade. Mortal Kombat II just dropped, and let's go ahead and call that shyt a movement :lawd:

My brother and I would drive all the way to Livonia from Detroit to get at some MKII, and we'd bring his 1 year old daughter with us. We'd give her a snack, and leave her chilling in her stroller while we were puttin in work at the arcade :pachaha:

they had a lot of epic shyt towards the end of the arcade era. there was this huge spot by me (Grand Prix, Hollywood FL) that had mad games. like rows and rows of different SF games, and pretty much everything else. they had some night where you could pay $10 and play unlimited games all night. and by "all night" I mean until like 5am. me and my peeps used to get all fuct up and go to that shyt. it was dope cause you could actually sit there and beat a game. there were all kinds of fights there, especially outside in the parking lot

Anyone here actually own a arcade machine? Always promised myself when I became older I would buy a Street Fighter or SNK machine...then emulation happened.:pachaha:

Got damn :what:, we most definitely have ran into each other then.

I have to check Bulletproof again one of these days. Hank and them cats use to rip people off worse than Gamestop. Should have never sold my Chrono Trigger. It was like new in the box and complete. Got like $10.:to:

I used to have a Black Tiger cabinet I got for a couple of bills when Arcade closed down. Now I sold it and I paid this guy a G-Note to build me a Mame Cabinet with all the games and a multi-input board with the original Street Fighter II arcade stick I bought from a guy on E-Bay. It's in my home office. :shaq:

I actually want to start an arcade one day.

There's some across town (North, West burbs, and downtown)...but I haven't checked em cause I don't feel like driving.

Anybody from Chicago checked out Galloping Ghost Arcade?

I wanna go there sooooo bad. :noah:

But I don't have a car. :to:

it was especially dangerous if your name was John Connor.

but yeah the arcade scene was dope. i remember they had the curtain up around House Of The Dead like that was actually gonna stop kids from seing that shyt. lol

also you would get your head bust if you jumped in on a game while someoneone was playing solo.

even though emulation is around Ill still cop a couple of arcade machines just to have the experience

you could always just cop one arcade machine and put the emulator inside it, thats what a friend of mines did, works perfectly too. of course it doesn't work for racing games and shooters though.
